Per article - Colorado has the worst vehicle theft problem in the nation.

I didn't realize Colorado is one of the states decending into chaotic lawless violence. I knew homelessness was booming, but not crime.

Is soaring vehicle theft in California due to legalized pot or is it due politicians who are soft on crime? Typically, you get what you vote for. You get the government you deserve.

Excerpt:

Car thefts in Colorado are on track to outpace every other state in the country for a second straight year, and public safety experts say the crimes are also growing more violent.

By the numbers:

At least 13,911 cars in the Mile High City have been reported stolen by local law enforcement so far this year, compared to the previous peak of 11,758 in all of 2021.

The Colorado Metropolitan Auto Theft Task Force estimates 41,600 cars will be nabbed statewide — up 12% from last year.

The estimated value of stolen vehicles this year totals between $468.1 million and $848.3 million, per a Common Sense Institute report from September.

What are they being stolen for? Parts? Newark, NJ used to be the worst for a long time, and they would be shipped off onto container ships to Africa and never seen again. I don't see any ports in Denver.

In California likely both of those factors along with the skyrocketing inflation.

If the child is allowed to steal a cookie before dinner and not get in trouble then guess what is going to happen? The next night he will steal 2.

The same goes with criminals. The benefits of crime far outweigh the risks because there are no risks. Time and again we have seen people robbed, raped, beaten and they are back on the streets to do it again. It seems that only murder will get someone in actual trouble.

If the crime spree gets any worse we are going to start seeing more vigilante justice. What choice will the People have when the Police have their hands tied and the Elected won't do what needs to be done?

This reminds me of a village with a group of children who love to stand around the village haystack, flicking lit matches. And when the stack starts afire and burns the village out, the villagers being surprised by it. What did they expect to happen?

No punishment for bad behavior = Unrestrained bad behavior and unsavory consequences for all

Oh yes, Colorado Democrats have reclassified quite a few crimes, so now there are virtually no consequences for stealing a car. It’s sad and they will NEVER be held accountable for their actions — they’re always blaming something else for this increase in crime, like COVID.

I don’t know if what I’m saying is correct but I’ve heard that the cars are usually stripped of parts and/or taken to Mexico.

Also, catalytic converter theft is a big thing here as well.

I guess it depends in the country where you're located. I was in Cancun, Mexico and the taxi cab driver was bragging that the mini-van taxi we were in, was stolen by her nephew from Georgia.

Could not agree more. Some people are not meant to be free in a civilized society, so lock them away.
