Is it me, or is this about the 10th thread on this topic?

By law, the Dept of Energy is required to auction the SPR releases to the highest bidder. If some Chinese company was the highest bidder, then the DOE is required by law to sell it to them.

I'm not the brightest bulb in the ceiling, but I can read a TV dinner. I mean teleprompter. Hunter told me he wanted to sell something to vagina. I mean China. I thought he was talking about my yoga group, The Chi Knees. I was like "how do they have that kind of money?" Then I read Nancy Pelosi met some Chinese when she was digging a hole on the beach. Nancy's not bright, but she's smarter than I am.

The Democrats don't have to answer to anyone, because the geldings in the MSM will continue to fall into line. In a perfect world, this SHOULD be the leading story on EVERY newscast. Of course, in a perfect world, Joe and his white trash kid would be executed for treason.

There is no way to justify it other than it would take money away from Hunter!

How about justifying it by pointing out that the law says the reserves must be auctioned off to the highest bidder?

But since right-wingers these days don't care about the rule of law I guess I shouldn't be surprised they don't care about that.

And are there no national security exceptions to the law? Color me skeptical.

Nope, looks like there aren't.

Here's the portion of the SPR code dealing with sales:
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/42/6241
Quote:
The Secretary shall sell petroleum products withdrawn from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve at public sale to the highest qualified bidder in the amounts, for the period, and after a notice of sale considered appropriate by the Secretary, and without regard to Federal, State, or local regulations controlling sales of petroleum products.
That's all it says about the sales.
