I don't care if Hoover was gay, I care that he ran the FBI for 48 years - half a century - and in that time institutionalized the concept that the FBI could wilfully break laws as it has for decade after decade.
The problem with cops, be it the local gendarme or the FBI, is that 99% of them make the rest look bad.
The problem with the voting public is they think cops are some independent entity that is doing something other than the will of a tyrant, according to their employment description.
Always remember - law enforcement enforces laws. Laws are written by bureaucrats. Which laws are enforced are decided by bureaucrats. The orders law enforcement officers execute are given by bureaucrats.
When you see a law enforcement officer, you are looking at a truncheon/sword/pistol at the end of a bureaucrat's arm.
So when you say "we hates the FBI, we hates it forever!!" what you should be saying is we hates the Attorney General and the President....because those are the bureaucrats who pull the strings for all the FBI agent marionettes. Your average law enforcement officer, like every other person on Earth, would be thrilled to get paid to do nothing at all. You think the average LEO wants to put their own life at risk? Heck no. They do it because they get ordered to, and their orders come from bureaucrats.
Law enforcement serves at the whim and whimsy of bureaucrats. Guns don't shoot themselves...someone has to pull the trigger. Same for LEOs. They don't kick down doors themselves...someone has to point out the door and tell them to kick it down. Never, ever forget that.
FBI BAD when they go after your guy. FBI just doing their job when they go after someone you don't like.

You made that up, I never did that. Many of the examples I listed, per the poster MyGhost, are examples of the FBI being right wing, or perhaps better phrased as proestablishment.
The fact that polling showed that only 46% of Americans trusted the FBI BEFORE this MAL raid shows that the FBI's long history is catching up with itself.
FBI has had 'issues' going back to the Hoover days who had programs like on spying high profile private citizens like MLK.
Problem is in any big multi location organization there will always be renegades or those that do it their way wether it be a government bureaucracy, miltary, national corporation etc which comes from lack of routine over sight and leadership that does not worry about detail.
