The original oath, as written by Francis Bellamy, did not include the words "under god".

"I pledge Allegiance to my Flag and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

It's time to dump the impostor oath.

It's time to dump the impostor oath.
It was added during the McCarthy communist witch hunt.

Good. That clause never made sense in the context. The whole thing needs to be tossed anyway. We are not one nation anymore - just a bunch of people who hate each other. And there never was liberty and justice for all.

Which you want to remedy by having liberty and justice for none.

Default The original pledge of allegiance was socialist “I pledge allegiance to MY flag” and without “under God”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pledge_of_Allegiance

The founder of the pledge was actually an American Socialist and ironically not fusing church and state but read for children in public schools:

Quote:
Bellamy's original Pledge read:

I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.[1]
Quote:
... Beginning with the new word allegiance, I first decided that 'pledge' was a better school word than 'vow' or 'swear'; and that the first person singular should be used, and that 'my' flag was preferable to 'the.'"[28] Bellamy considered the words "country, nation, or Republic," choosing the last as "it distinguished the form of government chosen by the founding fathers and established by the Revolution. The true reason for allegiance to the flag is the Republic for which it stands."[28] Bellamy then reflected on the sayings of Revolutionary and Civil War figures, and concluded "all that pictured struggle reduced itself to three words, one Nation indivisible."[28]
Quote:
Bellamy noted that "in later years the words 'to my flag' were changed to 'to the flag of the United States of America' because of the large number of foreign children in the schools."[28] Bellamy disliked the change, as "it did injure the rhythmic balance of the original composition.

That accommodation was because they respected that immigrants might not consider the American flag “My flag or Our Flag , but The Flag! But then maybe we took the “my” out of it and that’s why we forced “under God” to stay in it ?

Malcolm X also respected that it’s not MY Govt it’s The Government
He said this once in a speech:

Quote:
Malcolm X: (26:39) excerpt
……..you don’t hear these little Negroes talking about “our government is in trouble.” They say, “The government is in trouble.” Imagine a Negro, “Our government”! I even heard one say “our astronauts.” They won’t even let him near the plant, and “our astronauts”! “Our Navy.”

And now it has to the flag, and under God!

A real pledge only needs to be said a few times in one's life. NOT every day... that's propaganda.
And, as a conservative atheist, the under god part is irritating as hell. So I won't say it.
In fact it was not part of the original pledge and was added 62 years later in 1954 as finger to 'godless communism'.
Take it out and we're all happy.

And while I'm at it, play the national anthem at government ceremonies only... not sporting events.
You won't have to worry about anyone taking a knee or other political nonsense.

"Under god" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance when 98% of Americans believed in god. Now the number is just 81% and dropping faster and faster.

Which means the Pledge is no longer relevant to 1 in 5 Americans. As the number of Americans believing in god continues to drop, expect support for the Pledge to continue to drop as well.

Belief in God in U.S. Dips to 81%, a New Low

I have more of a problem pledging "liberty and justice for all" because it's a false statement and doesn't exist. It's just meaningless words.

I view it as a stretch goal. The flag stands for an idealized Republic, which apparently we're still working to achieve.
