Because so many people are entitled, argumentative a**holes. Here is a secret. If you act nice, are respectful and pay for what you buy chances are good that you will be treated well.
What about the customer with the ****ty attitude about boomers /quote]
Well there's that element of the equation as well. It's definitely an issue, but to fair if I were a young kid I'd probably be a bit resentful towards boomers as well if not a big jealous. We probably do deserve it a bit...must admit.
From some posts I believe the Internet is a major issue. Though Corporates are still share most of the blame. Customer being demanding has nothing to do with forcing them to be put on hold for hours only to have someone overseas who know no English and have no clue to help answer.
One thing I can relate is that customers now have smart phones and can find a lower price on the same item the associate would earn some commission on.
Apparently when it comes to airlines the US really lags behind many countries these days and the customer seems always wrong. But up to the 1980s even early 90s it wasn’t nearly as bad In fact back than the legacy airlines were similar around the world. It’s was since the late 1990s when airlines in the US really gone downhill compared with other country competitors.
COVID really pushed things off the deep end though.
Respectfully, unless anyone here has worked in customer service, you have no idea the hell the American public have wreaked on workers. The "customer is God" sentiment is the problem. The sense of entitlement, vile attitudes, and blatant disrespect of workers just trying to do their jobs is out of control. I'm okay with this going away or the power being leveled back a bit.
+1. Businesses hold some of the blame for the decline of customer service, but a lot of it falls on the entitled mental midgets that people in frontline positions have to deal with. Seriously, everyone should have to work a customer facing job at least once in their life if for no other reason than to learn not to be an A-hole.
