I agree. That was not a smart move.

Warning signs for the GOP abound

GOP prospects narrow in House as Democrats overperform in early contests
I also am an independent, as are my friends. A large group, I believe 40+% of voters are independent and not allowed to vote in primaries, so IMO there are no warning signs by the primary elections. How many democrats were uncontested? AOC was uncontested. As with polls, the most famous being the polls predicting Hillary would be President, they have no value.

Yeah, the Biden Admin had a good two weeks. The name: The Inflation Reduction Act is lubricous as the bill is anything but. Nevertheless, the MSM was selling it a huge win for Biden. Now this.

Not sure of the upside as those receiving the benefit are likely to vote Dem anyway.

Actually, the college grads pay for it many times over. College grads, on average, pay $7000 more per year in taxes than non-college grads. So the breakeven on a 10K forgiveness is less than two months. They are also far less likely to be on government assistance programs or medicaid.

Republicans are on the wrong side of at least three issues that will motivate voters: threats to democracy, abortion, and student loan forgiveness. Meanwhile, their go to, inflation, is stagnant and losing its importance to voters.
Threats to democracy. Both parties have that issue. The dems are trying to shove social agenda down our throat which is a massive threat to democracy!! Worse so than Jan 6.

Yes what happened Jan 6 is bad, but what the dems are trying to do is just as bad or worse.

My god we need gridlock as both parties have their bad apples, but more so the evil left dems. Not sure what the republicans want to do My god help us if the dems somehow maintain the house and take more senate November 8. We will be so screwed as a country and socialism and evil green new deal threaten us!!

Just look at this: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/aoc...socialism-wins

Everyone needs to get out and vote for the GOP.

What the heck is wrong with the supreme justice for overturning Roe vs Wade. That was beyond horrible to do. I mean can they go back on that. I do not care about abortion but last thing I want is to become a socialist country and just do not give women wrong impression to vote for socialist evil left when they may protect abortion but take other rights away form them in the blink of an eye.

I think GOP still has the house but boy am I nervous as our country's freedom and rights depends on the far left leaning democrats not having control of both chambers of congress!!

Thank god for filibuster and Joe Manchin for being very moderate to limit the damage for now!!

But we need to wake the crap up and see what the evil left is trying to do to us.

I am not going to say republicans are saints either as who knows some extremes conservatives may pass nasty religious legislation that puts us in Christian police state if they had full power, though that seems far less likely than dems/left/socialists passing evil green new deal/socialism and etc... crap.

But almost either way, a gridlock with one party controlling one chamber and the other party controlling other chamber of congress seems best for a divided country so nothing evil/extreme gets passed from either side.

Is that really true. I need some comfort as I am getting terrified of the dems/left maintaining both chambers of congress and are freedoms and rights are so royally screwed in such a case unless we have another Joe Manchin type or a few around to save the day.

Never heard that 40% of voters who are intendent cannot vote in mid terms?? If you are registered to vote, I thought you could vote for governor or anyone on ballots in your state???

Some are saying the opposite? In general do most people disapprove of this move. I certainly do but I imagine lots of democrats even more moderate ones want that stuff forgiven??

In the four special elections that have results since the Dobbs decision, Democrats have out-performed the 2020 Biden-Trump #'s in those districts. I still think the GOP takes the House, but that certainly shows something is going on and the margins do not appear to be what they were a few months ago.
