How unsurprising.

This country continues to circle the drain, pandering to the lowest common denominator and inspiring a new generation of career underachievers who are forced to work low skill jobs because they have no STEM education (or the drive to achieve success no matter college or not).

These people must have missed the memo that becoming a social media/YouTube star earning millions a year is something maybe only one out of a couple hundred million can achieve.

When the due date arrived, a handful of students had no work to turn in. That's when Diane first learned about the school's "no zero" grading policy.

Diane says the student and parent handbook declares "NO ZEROS — LOWEST POSSIBLE GRADE IS 50%" in bright red lettering.

Confused and reluctant, Diane went to speak with the administrators. She says she was told that, yes, teachers were to give students 50% — even if they turned no work in.
Diane rejected the policy, stating, "A grade in Mrs. Tirado's class is earned."

She was fired shortly thereafter, but since she was in her probationary period, no specific reason for the termination was given. Diane believes she was fired for being a tough grader.

Note that Port St .Lucie County, where she worked, voted for Trump in the 2020 general. Must be one of those places where parents shelter the little snowflakes from anything resembling the real world.

Conservatives- wanting to be able to cruise through life without putting the work in.

Old news. She was fired in 2018.

Ms. Tirado was released from her duties as an instructor because her performance was deemed sub-standard and her interactions with students, staff, and parents lacked professionalism and created a toxic culture on the school’s campus. During her brief time of employment at West Gate, the school fielded numerous student and parent complaints as well as concerns from colleagues. Based on new information shared with school administrators, an investigation of possible physical abuse is underway."
The spokesperson also mentioned the schools grading policy, stating that there isn’t any policy prohibiting a teacher from recording a zero for work not turned in.

Her refusal to incorporate students’ Individual Education Plan accommodations (a federal mandate) into her instructional practices was deemed defiant and put students at risk. Her dismissal was not a result of grading issues,” according to the district spokesperson.

A Port St. Lucie teacher claims she was fired over a disagreement with a school's grading policy. But an investigative report just released to CBS12 News Investigates seems to tell a much different story.Former 8th grade teacher Diane Tirado denied ever physically touching a student and told CBS12 News she had not seen a St. Lucie Public Schools’ investigative report until we showed it to her. The report claims she not only put a student in a choke-hold, but also slapped another student.
...
The investigative report concluded Tirado violated a combined total of 20 Principals of Professional Conduct and School Board Polices. They also claim in part that she engaged in inappropriate physical contact and communication with students by publicly humiliating them and created an environment that was not conducive to learning.

...nor from the fired teacher. But my gut tells me that however you cut it, she was a lousy teacher.

It’s usually a good idea to research any news story before posting it. As you can see from the replies, the story isn’t what she claims.

Those pesky conservatives, firing teachers that perform poorly and abuse their position. How dare they.

Guess you should have researched a bit more as well before you tried to use a random teacher’s CYA effort to attack your political rivals.

From the Op's article, it says she left a message for her students that she was fired and why.

That tells me at a minimum she was unprofessional.

I don't know any conservatives that want to "cruise though life". Most of us have worked hard to get what we have because we were instilled with having a work ethic, a foreign concept to the left. You want something? Get a job and save your money.

The left is into participation trophies and expects to be coddled for doing nothing. Anything that requires any kind of effort is too much for them. They rack up tens of thousands in student loans for their degrees in Swedish Lesbian Poetry and then expect the rest of us to pay for it.

Working is out of the question. It's just too much for the little darlings and cruising through life is their M.O. and game plan.
