A major oil refinery in Indiana has been shut down due to a loss of power, and that is causing gas, diesel, & other fuel shortages across 4 upper midwestern states:

Gas, diesel, & oil shortages are causing more widespread concern than baby formula shortages.

The Northeast U.S. is seeing severe diesel shortages, Maine is down 63% in home heating supplies versus past averages.

New York is having to use ships to move gas, diesel, & oil because of the trucker shortages that began in April, started being reported in May, and is now being felt big time in New England & New York.

There's also an energy emergency underway in Indiana due to a large refinery emergency shut down there, that is impacting 4 upper midwestern states.

There is always a refinery or pipeline shut down or not operating at peak capacity somewhere.

Mishaps happens. Stuff blows up or leaks or a weather incident causes a few days, weeks or months offline.

Yeah. Why would anyone build a refinery when the government has already announced that it intends to require Americans to drive cars which use very little gasoline?
It takes years to build a refinery, the profit is minimal and even that profit is in danger. Would YOU build one?

Unintended consequences of government meddling and picking winners and losers.

5 have permanently shut down in the past 2 years reducing national output 5%, and now this shut down.

Plus, all the distribution problems in getting energy products to where they are needed.

This article explain a lot of the issues, & the tug-o-war between Biden and the energy sector, as Biden tries to mandate lower prices, and threatens to use the force of law against them:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/busin...it-gas-prices/

Biden's (or his handlers I should say) are socialists, & these threats prove it. The oil companies are ignoring Biden, & his handlers.

When a refinery goes down now, its a bigger deal than before because; demand is rebounding from covid, we have the Ukrainian war w/ Russia constricting global supplies, and the USA has a big distribution problem.

Minimizing the problems to help radical uber leftists win elections is futile. They've waged a war on fossile fuels, & they are losing it.

Anybody with a brain larger than a pea would have seen this day coming at least 25 years ago.

Why any nation would base its future on a product with a boom or bust history is a mystery to me. The USA supply, demand, price etc has always been iffy. Just ask all those geologist who got laid off in the 80s bust about career choices. Or the drilling rig that blew up in the GOM, or the offshore pipeline that was cut by an anchor. Nobody learned a thing when the petroleum industry blew up Texas City.

Adding on the dependence on places like Saudi Arabia and Russia is nothing but trouble just a tad short of extortion.

It is long past time Americans sucked it up and found and paid for a stable energy source, or two.
