This is actually misleading. Overall murders year to date were down 16% as of 8/28 compared to last year. Summer months of July and August both saw significant drops. But there has been a rise in larceny, robberies, burglaries, and car thefts.
Mayor Lightfoot promised "Summer of Joy" in Chicago for 2022. Here is statistics for murder increase: 31% comparing to 2021. Similar numbers for other crimes: car thefts increase 57%.

Plus, she's having bus loads of ille....immigrants come to her city and she's not happy about it. I can't fathom it, after all she's got a "Sanctuary City" designation, so all ille... immigrants should be welcome.

Actually, neither of them sourced anything...they just wrote stuff with no link. So we have no idea who read what incorrectly or if they were just seeing a niche area or a single month etc. etc. etc.
Homicides are down compared to 2021, but are still up from recent years.
The sad reality of the increased crime is that the people bearing the brunt of it are poorer and minorities.
(That's been covered in other threads, can always search on Chicago murder map if you know the city or look for a list of victim names)
Gotta love all those police reforms, soft sentencing, zero bail for violent offenders designed in response to BLM huh?
