The same reason Democrats haven't fixed Detroit, Cleveland, Memphis, New Orleans, Jackson, Gary, St. Louis, Philly, Baltimore...

What is all the hub bub about here? Since they're happy, let's just leave them alone to live their lives.

The state is in good financial condition, and the residents are happy...nothing to see here.
The state gets $3 in federal taxes for every $1 its residents pay.

So it’s my tax dollars paying for graft there instead of potable water- it they want to live their happy lives without comment, then they need to stop being such horrible leaches on the backs of honest American taxpayers.

You think? Do you know what a "red" state is?

"The ten states that have the highest number of SNAP recipients are: California (3,789,000), Texas (3,406,000), Florida (2,847,000), New York (2,661,000), Illinois (1,770,000), Pennsylvania (1,757,000), Georgia (1,424,000), Ohio (1,383,000), North Carolina (1,298,000), and Michigan (1,180,000). The states with the highest percentage of SNAP recipients are New Mexico (21%), Louisiana (17%), West Virginia (17%), Alabama (15%), and Mississippi (15%). New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Rhode Island all have 14%. In Wyoming and Utah, only 5% of residents are SNAP recipients, the lowest in the U.S."

What planet do you live on? Its the Democrats who see economics as zero-sum.

Republicans want to grow the pie for all. Democrats want to re-distribute wealth (except for the billionaires who are mostly Democrats).

Yes it shows the poverty rates of the counties but not the pollical representation which is a mute point because the GOP runs the state.

What reason do you truly believe that is?

I remember a person lives Mississippi said,

Its not as poor as people make it out to be. Yes, people have less money. But they also have a lower cost of living. So it's not necessarily as bad as you might think.

Also, people who choose to live in rural states like Mississippi often choose to live there because they don't WANT to worry about making a lot of money. They voluntarily choose a simple lifestyle so that they can make do on fewer dollars. But the choice to live on smaller salaries and wages is not reflected in income statistics.

I think it sounds reasonable.

Red states in general are not poorer than blue states. It’s just that red states tend to be less urbanized than blue states. Actually blue states tend to be less stable because they have more poor people, homeless people, higher crime rates and the unemployment rate is much higher.

The county in the US with the highest proportion of SNAP recipients is reportedly Magoffin County in KY. It is a Republican stronghold.
