Yep, generally I’m not a fan of “banning” things, but in this case, I’m not sure why we allow TikTok to operate within our country, especially since it’s just a vessel for China to collect data from American citizens. Oh wait, yes I do know why it’s still allowed; Joe Biden is beholden to China and Democrats tend to view America as a deeply flawed country, with any other country in the world being “better.”

And this is why President Trump wanted to ban Tik Tok. They are a Chinese company that continually tests the lack of intelligence in our youth. The Tik Tok challenges are dumb but the youngsters love to accept them then post the results on the platform. Tik Tok had the kids eating Tide pods, shorting out electrical systems and starting fires by inserting a plug half way into a wall outlet and dropping a penny on it. There are so many stupid challenges that are willingly accepted by the fools and this cooking chicken in Nyquil is one of them.
What's next from Tik Tok, having your friend shoot at you to see if you can dodge the bullet?
I've seen that in Remo Williams. You can also slap the bullet away with your hand if you are fast enough. I think I saw that in an old episode of the Brit show Avengers. They busted that one on Mythbusters though. How about do it yourself sex changes?

We have plenty of other apps owned by American companies that offer platforms similar to TikTok that are not sending user data to China (at least that we know of, I guess). Unlike Democrats, I am in favor of free speech, but the data collection aspect of TikTok is questionable in terms of national security.

I know very liberal milennials who are tech savvy and they echo your concerns about TikTok.
Having said that -- that's another whole topic.
This kind of stupid 'trend' would be spread somehow no matter what the apps we have and who is reporting to what.

Exactly because of the mindless garbage. Silly stuff. I try to understand why but don't get it.
I've heard some parents say they have started using TIK TOK as a way to connect with their kids. The Mom and daughter make dance videos and put them out there. I don't know -- not my thing. But none of my grown sons would have been into that kind of thing in middle school anyways.
