This has to be one of the dumbest foreign policy moves since Carter tried to appease Brezhnev. Lifting sanctions on a rogue nation to make up for the fact that he won't permit drilling and pipelines domestically. So drilling and transporting oil through North Dakota contributes to climate change, but doing the same in Venezuela doesn't?

Is this Biden Cozying up to a dictator like the Dems accused Trump of doing with Putin and Kim Jong Un ? No what Trump did was like the old saying "Keep your Friends close but your enemies closer" and it worked because Putin didn't invade Ukraine and Kim stopped firing his rockets.

Biden is actually getting into bed with Maduro and we all know who will be getting "it".

The agreement is about free elections in 2024 and it also allows US oil companies to begin pumping oil which would hopefully elevate the standard of living and reduce the migration of refugees to the US and other South American countries. Maduro is entrenched and much as we may not care for his politics but at this point we are doing more damage to the Venezuelan people. Same as our embargo on Cuba, what did our actions accomplish, or we could remain on our current path with the same results.

Well DSA paved the way for him as they went down to visit Maduro and offered their support last year.
And they came back and blasted the US for the terrible conditions there all due to US sanctions.

All the money goes to him and his cronies, you think this is getting reinvested in the broader Venezuelan economy?

Additionally, many are coming to escape violence, which will occur regardless. The sanctions weaken him, not his citizens, which is why they were there in the first place. This is a remarkably dumb and indefensible policy, we should provide oil companies greater access to oil in the US, not to oil in Venezuela.

I don't believe in sanctioning commodities, they can just turn around and sell it to someone else, so I'm fine with it. I've no love for Maduro or his regime but I think we should try to get along with everyone including Venezuela, Russia, China, N. Korea, etc....give peace a chance.

I don't believe in sanctioning Maduro anyways, Venezuelans can organize their government anyway they like.

Let me get Biden’s energy policy straight.

-Kill Keystone XL on Day 1
-Drain SPR before elections
-Tell oil & gas producers to lower prices at the pump
-Beg Saudis & Russia to produce more
-Contemplate banning refined product & gas exports
-Lift sanctions on Venezuela(a totalitarian country that banned elections) to get more oil

Did I miss anything?
