* Not going to vote for a party that admires Socialism, wants our country to be more like countries in Western Europe, and is beholden the far left.
* I’m old enough to remember the more moderate Democrats I grew up with in the 1990s, the kind who generally loved this country and didn’t believe that we were so flawed to the point where we shouldn’t be proud of it. There aren’t many of those left, unfortunately! As an extension of that, I can’t stand the overt racism of the Democrat Party.
* Sucks, but not my fault either.

However, I’m gay, so by default I have a ton of friends who are Democrats, and they generally embrace the idea of Democratic Socialism. I’ve definitely noticed how many of those ideas, which were once fringe, are now openly embraced by “regular” Democrats as well.
Such as?

I'm a staunch Democrat that voted for Trump. I knew he was going to lose bigly, and I didn't want him to commit suicide if he didn't get enough of the popular vote.

Here's an article on that very subject for today's situation.

Anyway, let's find some potential candidates of good character and leadership ability. Yeah, I know that's a tall order, but I continue to believe it can happen. I'm not married to one party or the other.
So DeSantis for 2024?

No Trump or Joey

Why? After reflecting on all the fake news -why do you still think Trump is not a good candidate? I'll vote for him again. His policies and methods are great for America. (Mean tweeting aside )

People voted for President Biden not because of who he is-but because of who he is NOT. If Republicans would run a competent, sane candidate, I suspect they would run away with the next election.
DeSantis sounds good to me. Young, sane, and competent

I would likely vote for him if my alternative was President Biden. Governor Desantis presents as disciplined and competent, and I can sense no real whiff of corruption from him. I may not agree with all his policies, but competence matters and so does character.

If the Republicans run Trump again, they have probably essentially elected President Biden for a second term.

Definetly not. I don't like Biden, never did (generally not a fan of center right neoliberal mainstream Dems) but he is markedly better in almost every way than Trump.

There is almost zero evidence (Aside from WV Senator Manchin these days) that supports your statement that Democratic party does NOT lean towards Socialism. It most definitely does.

Democrat party today is party of elitist billionaires and racists who wish to keep most of country under their thumb through excessive gov't intervention in almost all facets of life. I acknowledge the broadness of this statement and there are examples where it may not be quite true but-- overall trend is accurate.

Biden has invited an invasion across our southern border of illegal aliens.

Biden has also managed to ignore the obvious coming inflation by referring to it as transitory, and then kept spending.

Biden also has been compromised by his sex-addicted, drug-addicted, mentally ill son with his foreign business dealings.

Biden gave a textbook "How not to withdraw from a country" display in Afghanistan, which resulted in American deaths and foreign militants scavenging the weaponry we left behind.

Biden has been an embarrassment on the global stage, and it's starting to show in the behavior of our adversaries.

Biden has never been right about a foreign policy decision in the 50 years he's been an elected official, and that record is still intact.

Biden has displayed signs of cognitive decline since 2019, and yet low-information types still thought he was a better candidate.

Even Becky Obama -- himself hardly an Eisenhower clone -- said "Joe has a way of f**king things up."

And he has.
