Blue cities - massive populations. Can’t compare oranges to apples. In Fl the death toll in our bigger cities were in the thousands. But do follow your money, all the Gov and repubs care about. DeSantis didn't cram Thouands of C-19 patients into Nursing homes like they did in NY, IL, & NJ...so there's that.
Millions of Northerners fled to Florida to escape the C-19 policies in their home states...so there's that too.
Many Northerners who fled their states, decided to remain in Florida they like it so much.
DeSantis's favorability is quite strong, & polls have him +10% over his Dem oppennent, Charlie Crist, so there's that too
New York's Cuomo had to step down due to corruption, and killing so many people w/ his C-19 policies...which was the rea reason he stepped aside, so he wouldn't be charged.

I must have forgotten about restaurant closures. We picked up takeout several times during the first full month we lived here (April 2020). Those restaurants must not have got the memo.
Oh, wait. DeSantis only closed restaurant dining rooms.
By May 2020, we were enjoying adult beverages on the beach, dining in restaurants, shopping, etc. Not at full capacity, but with minimal restrictions. There were exceptions in Broward and Dade counties, but the majority for Florida was in phase one of reopening.
During the early stages of the pandemic, limiting tourism was a benefit to Floridians.
