A group of South African actuaries advised their government that a lockdown would cost 29 lives for every one life saved from the virus.

The number doesn't support it.

There is an extra 279,000 death in 2020 compared to 2019.

There is roughly 200,000 Covid deaths at the same point in the year.

Thus, there is about 79,000 extra deaths not related to Covid. Let's assume these deaths are all related to the lockdowns, 79,000 is still much less than 200,000. And I'm willing to bet most of these 79,000 deaths have nothing to do with the lockdown or Covid.

279,700 extra deaths in the US so far in this pandemic year

.

The pushback will begin in full force after the election.

Disney is about ready to sue the state of California over the never ending lockdowns.

The left will not be able to keep this going indefinitely.

You really think the state of California is scared of being sued by Disney??

CA is responsibly loosening the restrictions. No big corporation is going to dictate how they handle a pandemic.

Unlike red states, which is mostly controlled by big money.

Personally I think the real danger of these lockdowns is that the corrupt leaders know it will take years for them to have to give them up. Meanwhile we all suffer.

That is terrifying.

- some suffer without jobs
- some suffer with depression of not being able to leave their house
- some suffer with substandard medical care.

And this jerks get away with it.

That is a MAJOR terrifying flaw in our constitutional plan.

We only have one option -- elect people in November who will end it and take steps so it is not instituted again.

Yeah, I do.

Newsome has been acting like Joseph Stalin since March, and he isn't going to able to continue to do it forever. People need jobs, people need to have entertainment options, and corporations exist to make money, they don't exist to not make money.

We will find a way to re-open safely, but make no mistake, the country will not be kept closed forever on account of a flu bug with a 99.5% survival rate if you get it and are under 70 years old.

File this one under the category of.... GAME - SET - MATCH

Funny how all the whiners that want another shutdown aren’t praising Chick-fil-A. All this time they are the only company still with a nationwide dine in closure. Show the praise ! Oh wait it must have a conflict of interest in their own agendas.

Developing countries such as S. Africa simply don't have the capability to endure endless restrictions. The US can play the game a little longer. India went into a 1.5 month national lockdown where you could only leave your home to buy food back in March. There was some initial success, and case counts were low until July. However, they have been booming since then and I wouldn't be surprised if India had 25m-30m positive tests by the end of the year. Anti-body tests in the Mumbai slums showed that 50% of people had already been infected. For developing countries, the hardships of lockdowns/restrictions simply outweigh the hardships of COVID.

  • Depression and mental illness --- what does that have to do with COVID
  • Suicides -- is not COVID
  • Delays in care from cancer ---More personal responsibility
  • Drug and Opioid abuse - more personal responsibility
  • Domestic violence and child abuse --- criminal not COVID
  • Cardiovascular disease and stroke -- long term, way before COVID, health problems
  • Reduce lifespan due to unemployment --- does not make much sense
These are the reasons given for lock-downs causing more deaths. It all sounds like quackery and a stretch to me and none of it has any research data.
