Yeah, I would probably risk going to Chicago again if I had family there but barring that, no thanks.
Free country and all that so as always, vote with your wallet.

Most of this is going to hinge on how well the judges do in weighing whom is a danger and whom is not.

Based on a number of recent cases like the guy with tons of priors shooting a girl in Dekalb and using his ankle monitor as a holster...I am not optimistic.

P.S. Keep in mind the judges (especially in Cook County) will be under a lot of political pressure.

I’m waiting to see how Chicago tourism board is going to spin this. I don’t think too many reasonable people would like “Come to Chicago and get shot in the face” or “Come to Chicago for the BBQ and then get shot in the face.”

Who ever comes up with a catchy pitch for Chicago AND works, should get one heck of a bonus for selling that turd.

I’m the adventurous type, but I’d visit Baghdad, Iraq before Chicago… My chances surviving a five day stay are much better in Baghdad, which is a pretty sad statement on the entire state of Illinois.

As long as you don't join a drug gang and hang around in the worst neighborhoods in the city, you'll be just fine in Chicago.

The nice areas have murder rates more like 1 per 100k and the bad areas more like 40 per 100k.

There are murder maps you can look up on google if you want. They're west and south of the downtown and are about 95% minority victims.

I think several posters have swallowed some serious political kool-aid which I get, I have some friends that are pretty far right and have had to explain it to them as well.

it's quite predictable.
