Vaccines? Fagetaboutit! No way!

He died last month, at home alone, with covid. The neighbors found him.
The poster has zero clue as to what we faced in the '70's when so many people never got checked, no preventatives, never saw a doctor for anything.

And these medical errors are far higher in the USA than our peers in Europe. Americans are over screened, over medicated, over vaccinated but not healthier. Chicken or the egg as they say.

Interesting you say that.

Obviously a lot of things have improved life expectancy- better engineering and living conditions being the most important.

But starting in 1980, life expectancy in our peers greatly diverged from ours. See the graph here: https://www.healthsystemtracker.org/...980-2020%C2%A0

In the 1950s, Americans outlived Europeans. Think about that.

Drug culture.

Drugs are dragging down our life expectancy, big time. Don't do drugs, don't sell drugs, don't participate in the drug culture and the likelihood of you dying a premature death decreases greatly.

Yeah, with Fentanyl wiping out 100,000 young people a year, life expectancy plummets.

Also add about another 10,000 people that are murdered, due in large part to the illegal drug trade in the US, whether directly or indirectly. Add all the people that are killed by an intoxicated driver.

Also add the depressed people that self-medicate with drugs and end up committing suicide.

All of these are people that are dying long before a "natural" death would have otherwise occurred, dragging the life expectancy rate down.

You have only your personal experience. Modern medicines have improved on, extended life and quality of life for far more people than the potential negatives. Otherwise I would not have spent my life doing so.

There are risks with any medication, treatment, therapy and even testing. But in medicine you learn and you also gain experience to help mitigate those potential negatives. And so help boost the benefit vs risk ratio.

Medical errors are very common. But it is highly unusual for any mistake to actually cause the death of a patient. If 250K in the US are killed every year simply due to these mistakes, I would certainly know this. I have seen a few over the years, but nowhere in that high vicinity. And I don't know why our docs would be any better than others.
