There are thousands of houses in rural northern Michigan that don't have AC. Hell, my Grandparents house, in Kansas of all places only had 2 window units for a 2500sqft house. And only two electric wall heaters.

Some of us remember toxic rivers that were so polluted they actually burned with open flames. We finally got rid of those problems via regulations on corporations. We don't want to go back there.
