That's what they are trying to do.
The Dutch cabinet also wants to draw up a long term plan for the future of agriculture with farmers, environmental groups and local government.
The voluntary buyout scheme was the only way to finally create opportunities for the construction of homes, the construction of new infrastructure and for projects to make the Netherlands more sustainable in the shortest possible time.

The Netherlands has 53,000 farms right now. They produce 4 million cows, 13 million pigs and 104 million chickens annually .
Closing 3,000 isn't the end of the world.

So it's when used in excess that nitrous oxide is formed. Sounds like a manageable issue. So by shutting down agriculture in the Netherlands, a country in which such emissions can be controlled and shifting food production to countries where such emission are poorly controlled, really makes a lot of sense.
Nitrous Oxide !? Find a way to capture it, then sell it to the race car crowd. That stuff is expensive.

The USA should offer these farmers 1,000 acres each if they are willing to move to America to farm.

We can use gov't lands, & give them a 200 year lease for $1/acre.

We'll even allow the to use 5% of the land to grow Tulips.

Anyone else with me on this?

To comply with the European Union’s radical climate laws, the Dutch government of World Economic Forum acolyte Mark Rutte will force up to 3,000 farms to shut down for good.

Farmers will be made an offer on their farms, which the government claims is “well over” market value.

According to nitrogen minister Christianne van der Wal, the government purchase will be compulsory.

"Nitrogen minister"???

Reminds me of the "Ministry of Silly Walks".
