One interesting phenomenon of people in my generation and newer is their fascination with superheroes. Beta Charlie Puth even sings about it in the terribly feminine song “One Call Away”. Now, someone in a real position of elected authority is clearly trying to be a comic theirself.
“ For all of you upset that I still read comics and suggesting that I need to do more serious reading .. um... anyone who understands comics knows that comics are an essential part of American fiction. And the lessons learned are invaluable.”
i really want to vomit at my generation. sworn into office on a Superman comic. these people are a joke and will represent their constituents with the same degree of hilarity. Typical narcissistic behavior. “ it’s all about me”
Democrats play games like this because they know it triggers you. Don't give them what they want. Living well is the best revenge.
The left always rag on people like Marjorie Taylor Greene, claiming she is a nut job, but comic book they is so deep? who does this? I think it is perfectly OK to question this person’s judgment
Seems as though the fascination with superheroes now is that there are none in real life. They must resort to comic books.
Not surprising that someone from CA would be sworn in using a comic book. In and of itself, that's comical but spot on, considering the state. (Hey, don't judge me. I live here. I know things. How do you think I came up with my screen name?)
I saw an interview with him last week talking about this. His given reason for it was that comic books taught him to read English and gave him an appreciation for what a gift that was to him. Personally, I don't care what he's sworn in on. The bible obviously doesn't carry the same weight for people as it use to.
honesty i have no problems with this. The World needs Superhero's like the line from the song Land of Confusion "Superman where are you now" If someone is not religious it would be the height of hypocrisy to be sworn in on a bible. Ironically if he was sworn in on a Comic of Superman with Truth, Justice and the American Way on the cover the far left probably would have been the ones screaming.
There are some great messages to be learned by our Hero's(fictional or not) I hope this person learned some.
Not sure why anyone would have a problem with this. In fact it seems very well thought out.

In a tweet, Garcia announced that he would be sworn in to Congress on the U.S. Constitution. But under the Constitution would be “3 items that mean a lot to me personally,” he wrote. “A photo of my parents who I lost to covid, my citizenship certificate & an original Superman #1 from the Library of Congress.”
Sara Guerrero, a spokesperson for Garcia, stated, per the New York Post, “Congressman Garcia learned to read and write in English by reading Superman comics so it’s especially exciting he was able to borrow this rare copy from the kind folks at the Library of Congress.
The Bible is better? Why? Isn't Jesus a Superhero?
