Congress approves an $858B budget for DOD then refuses to raise the spending cap, sure that makes sense.

Passed the senate 86-11, house 360-80, overwhelmingly bipartisan.
just remember, they never (as a group) vote against spending more money.

It's fortunate that Congress has the fall back cover of an omnipotent unstoppable juggernaut Russian military to justify this level of spending..........

I recall when the budget was measly $720B they didn't have enough bullets and the military was decimated.

Raising taxes is always a bad idea.

Sounds like a typical Democratic response...we can't cut spending so let's just raise taxes to bring in more money.

The problem is that once that new money is brought in, they seem to always find a way to spend it and then needing even more money.

For the Government to Give you Everything...it must first Take Everything.

They need revenue to cover their spending.

To be fair that is not a big enough raise to the troops.. They should be getting a 10%+ raise to keep up with inflation with a 15%+ increase for starting rank pay to help attract new recruits.

You will never increase military salaries enough to compete with the civilian sector. Noone joins the military to get rich.
