Here we go again, the GOP can't stick together like the Dems do, no wonder the GOP have a hard time winning elections.

Someone tell me why they need a 2nd vote? someone please explain.
The rule is a Majority of voting members, not a Plurality. So despite Jeffries getting the most votes, he doesn't become speaker since he received a Plurality and not a Majority. 434 votes were cast, 218 was needed. The voting will continue until someone gets a Majority of votes cast. Note, it is possible for the amount of votes needed to change, as it is based off votes cast, so if some members of Congress do not vote on a particular round or vote Present, the amount required is based on the majority of votes cast.

The winner must have a majority which equals 1/2 the votes cast plus one. Can't win just by having the most votes which is a plurality.

Doesn't matter how many people are on the ballot, but in order to win the Speakership, whoever gets the most votes, must have the majority of votes cast. 434 votes were cast on the 1st round, so 218 was needed. Lets say in another round of voting three members of Congress either do not vote or vote Present, which would have 431 votes cast, in order to win the Speakership someone would need 216 votes.

I'm wondering if there's any across the aisle talk going on about voting for somebody other than McCarthy.

Just the percentages of kick backs they each would receive, & through which laundering network the funds would travel.

None of these Speaker choices are worth squat...dumb and dumber. Thomas Massie is the only logical choice if you wan to save America's economy from collapsing under the weight of the overbloated federal govt.

CSpan reported McCarthy will ask Jordan to nominate him again which he just did lol. This in hopes to flip the votes Jordan got to McCarthy. That would give him the votes he needs.

That seems like a safe bet to me.

He would still be woefully short. Jordan has only 6 who voted for him. Unless the Biggs people change, there is no winner on the second ballot either.
