Liberals are already trying to find a way to blame this on white people. I'm assuming they'll claim that random white guys are running into the classroom and hitting them on the head every time a black kid attempts to solve an equation or something like that.

While there are people that sadly have that viewpoint, this thread is more of a condemnation of the public school systems...which I also feel is misguided.
What is more alarming is that your primary concern is that attention has been brought to this issue, not that it is an ongoing problem in parts of the US where kids aren't being developed to their potential, the parents aren't doing their job and a lifetime of low wages and other problems face these kids futures.

I have read that there is a math teacher shortage nationwide. Recruiting is hardest in both low income urban and rural areas. That issue isn't helping Baltimore either.

I found it alarming that math scores fell in all 50 states recently. I don't mean a little. (see quote below from USA Today article)

The failed schools are run by racists. 90% of Baltimore's students are minorities...so failing them this badly is blatantly racist.
Baltimore's Mayor, City Council, School Board, & its educators are ALL racists, racists that are treating minorities poorly for their own benefit.
Theres not a White Republican within sight of any of this racism.
Agree — but nothing will change until Baltimore voters and parents accept they too are at fault for continuing to vote for democrats who run the failed education system.

More money will make little difference. The problem is the parents, the homes these kids are raised in, and the environment these kids create at school. Even if you are a student who wants to learn you will be harassed by those who don’t (majority). The schools allow this stuff to happen because of the woke leaders and parents who will not enforce any kind of behavioral or academic standards. The inner city schools and even some suburb schools are an absolute mess. I could tell you stories that would make your toes curl and blood pressure rise. If the woke left is not pushed out of our schools and standards reinforced, I have little hope for the future.
This is the consequence of decades of victim mentality so ingrained now in this culture by democrats that every wrong behavior is ignored and taught it’s not their fault— they are victims of systemic racism and oppression and police brutality, and held back by white privilege bla bla blah….
No emphasis on personal responsibility or moral integrity or connecting the dots between education opportunities and success.

All cultures - blacks, white, Asians, Muslims, Hispanics, Jews- Christian’s, democrats and republicans have racists amongst them — but No minority in this country has been given more financial help, constant coddling and attention, more legs up and help culturally, socially, financially and educationally than blacks.
