This is incredibly weird, IMO. Republican candidates must sign a "loyalty pledge" to support the winning candidate or they are blocked from debating. So far it is only a proposal but it is set to be adopted within a week.
I wonder where having to sign "loyalty" pledges will lead for the GOP.
I don't really care, theoretically, they shouldn't need to sign a pledge if they support their party. However, I think there may be some thoughts that some upcoming candidates may prefer to split the vote.
If you want an example of which party has more diversity of opinion, here it is.
Quote:
Virtually every Democrat thought to have presidential aspirations has already promised to unite behind President Joe Biden, assuming the 78-year-old Democrat follows through on his plan to seek a second term.
So, the Democrats unite behind their man no matter what, even if he has dementia.
Clearly, winning is all that matters to Democrats. Look what they did do Bernie.
It's not enforceable. How can you pledge something before hand knowing that the GOP establishment will act fair in the process?
What happens if I make the pledge and months later the GOP establishment screws me over for their candidate, now I have to bite my tongue and support the establishment and their candidate like what the DNC and Hillary did to Bernie Sanders because of a meaningless pledge.
