I have thought for a while this is a good way to stop some mass shootings. It does not infringe on anyone's 2nd amendment rights nor require more government regulations. Just the media has to voluntarily not report the name or photo of the mass shooter. They won't get their 15 minutes. Report the details of the shooting but not the shooter.

The news shows I watch generally don't give the name or show pics of the shooters. They have been doing this for several years now.

You mean the local network stations? 7 or 11 o'clock news, for example? I usually watch CNN or MSNBC. They avoid naming the shooters.

This thought or initiative has been brought up many times in the past. Unfortunately it just doesn't work. I'm not sure if it's because the public generally wants to know or what. I don't believe any intent is for giving the shooter notoriety.

I think maybe deep down, people want to "look into the eyes" of someone so evil. I think it's a natural reaction for some to want to know the why and who.

I listen to TV. Rarely go to the web site where details are buried.

I'm torn on this. In one hand it makes sense that in many cases the shooter has given up on being famous so being infamous is the second best thing in their miserable lives so identifying them cements their names in ghoulish legend. On the other hand they should be named so they can be shamed, especially if they live.

I can't imagine a mass shooter having a good time in prison when the other inmates find out that his claim to fame is walking into a school and murdering innocent kids.

I don't think the deranged losers care what anyone thinks because to carry out such a heinous act means that they have hung up their humanity. As for the rest of us we want to know the names, the details so we can try to make some kind of sense out of the murders.

Here is a video that was on CNN, talking about the shooter and his background. Several similar stories aired on CNN and this is just one shooting. Do you monitor these channels 24/7?
