Yes they should. You complied with your punishment- free is free.

Problem is we let them out too fast and they go kill 5 more people. Or sex predators. Habitual and It’s hi neighbor.
The bigger problem, people will Vote for them, so what’s the point ??? Got scoundrels in office making laws for us, hypocrites.

The Constitution doesn't preclude felons from holding federal office, I believe with the exception of committing an actual insurrection. On a related note, once an individual has served their time and completed any related (and reasonable) period of post-release probation, they should get all of their rights restored — presumably much to the chagrin of the left and right State worshipers on the forum.

1. The fact that our justice system is broken is not a valid reason to deprive free citizens of rights. Also, I know from a close family member’s experience just how easy it is to be labeled a sexual predator when you have done absolutely nothing wrong.

2. Perhaps having people that have experienced the justice system from the other side in office would result in a less broken system. Couldn’t be much worse than what we have now.

No, they shouldn’t be outright banned, or maybe allow a certain amount of time to pass for certain crimes if we want to go in that direction. Habitual offenders should not be allowed. The specifics would have to be worked out.

One would think.

I support that in theory. As Iyanla Vanzant has remarked, there have to be consequences for bad behavior.

It's a little too late to change the constitution.

For me, it comes down to trust and good character. I don’t think we need to perpetually punish people who mess up once, or even a few times when they are young, for example. But a recent crime or a track record of poor judgment is a whole other ballgame. Of course, we could leave that to the people to decide. But we have background checks and attestations of good moral character for holding certain licenses, and I don’t see why lawmakers cannot be held to that standard.

Straight to the point...O.P. is pushing a poll to have Trump unable to be elected as a President of the US.
This would then be overturned when a Biden or such a DEMOCRAT clone be nominated.
This is what's called Partisan Politics.
