She didn't lie in court. We know that as an absolute certainty because she wasn't allowed to testify.

The judge ruled that testimony about what happened at the store was irrelevant and inadmissible because legally it wouldn't justify what happened later.

And, of course, she didn't admit she lied. That's another ridiculous propaganda point.

She wasn't allowed to testify in front of the jury. She testified, under oath, before the court and she lied.

Ignore internet hoaxes.

If what that interviewer claims is true, then why did Garland let her off and not do something?

From the link in the OP:

Quote:
The DOJ, which had already re-examined and closed the case in 2007, reopened the probe into Emmett’s killing in 2018. But the case was closed in December 2021 after the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division concluded it could not prove Donham had lied. When questioned directly, Donham adamantly denied to investigators that she had recanted her testimony.

Maybe proof problems. Who could prove she lied?

It's your opinion that she lied, even though you have no evidence to contradict what she said, but it wouldn't matter since the jury didn't hear it.

The point is that nothing she said had anything to do with Till's death or the outcome of the trial, and the notion that she did something wrong is pure malicious propaganda.

I have never seen allegations that he grabbed her or even touched her, allegedly he whistled at her and on they they murdered him. She knew how things were back then and what could happen if she said anything so the guilt is on her.

Agreed...this woman was evil and should not be allowed to "rest in peace"...she was despicable human being just like most southerners were at that time.

You'd stated as a fact that she'd lied based solely on what Tyson had claimed.

The Blood of Emmett Till
Published in 2017, The Blood of Emmett Till reexamines the lynching of Emmett Till in 1955. The book was a New York Times bestseller, won the 2018 Robert F. Kennedy Book Award and was longlisted for the National Book Award. In the book, Tyson alleges that Carolyn Bryant had recanted her original testimony, but a subsequent investigation did not corroborate this after the recording provided to investigators did not support this assertion. Seems that the recording that Tyson had made while interviewing her did not back up his claim. Seems Tyson had lied about that little tidbit.

The DOJ tried and failed twice to prove any wrong doing by her. That's good enough for me.

May she rest in peace.
