DC can't get its act together and we are quickly approaching the Default date on our Debt and we have been hearing the usual scare tactics that our seniors will not be paid their Social Security that many rely on and another is that our Soldiers will not be paid.
Riddle me this? Why don't we ever hear about the benefits to Illegal Aliens being cut off?
A citizen can pay into SS for decades and when they retire they get that money back. Let's say that is $1000 per month. Now we have Hotels in so many cities that are being filled up by Illegal Aliens for the average cost of $200 per night. I know that those in DC have a problem with math but in 5 days those Illegal Aliens have taken $1000 that should be going to our elderly citizens that worked for and also need that money now.
Will we ever see the Illegals being evicted from the Hotels because we cannot afford to pay for them to stay there?
I have a feeling that when it comes to the debt payment default that if the politicians, instead of scaring people that they will miss their SS payment they complained that the Illegal Aliens will lose their rooms and services most of us would say, so what...
I still don't understand why it is our responsibility to house and feed the Illegal Aliens while ignoring so many of our own citizens and their needs?
The Riddle over all of this mess that DC has created is that the Joke is on us.
Social Security, medicare and veteran's benefits are always the ones the media say will be the first not to get paid.
It's to incite fear in people. The welfare folks will continue to get their welfare.
Social Security and Medicare are not Welfare, we pay into it our entire working lives. A for veterans benefits do you feel VETS should not receive benefits?How mighty generous of you to those who fight for us.
If you are of retirement age(tmsRETIRED) please donate your Social Security to someone else and refuse your Medicare, after all you dont want to be receiving welfare benefits.
The federal government won't be paying any bills if there is a default.
But there won't be a default. Congress and the WH are way too close to an agreement for a default to happen. They pretty much agreed on everything except a few tiny issues that can go either way. They won't let a default happen.

I know that. There used to be entitlement programs..ones that you contributed to and welfare programs...free money for the poor.
But now...they are all lumped into one encompassing "social safety net programs".
There is no differentiation anymore. Getting TANF every month is the same as getting SS every month.

The thread isn't about if the government is or isn't going to default.
It's about the government using fear tactics by saying SS, veteran's benefits, etc., might be halted. But they won't say that the money that goes towards feeding, housing, clothing, processing, etc., etc., illegals, asylum seekers and refugees might be halted...and they'll all have to go back across the border because we won't have the money to deal with them.
But "refugees" can get into these programs and that's what they are today...refugees, not illegals.
The latest technique is to exploit the system/laws and make a phony asylum claim when they show up.
Then, since there are way too many to detain until their hearing, they are granted "parole" and just released into the Country with a court date that is usually many years in the future. These "asylum seekers" currently number in the millions.
We need to enforce existing Immigration Law...to the letter.
That would include..."All those seeking asylum shall be detained until their hearing."..."Asylum seekers must seek such sanctuary in the first Country they come to".

This is a great point. There are an incredible amount of things we waste money on and then cry that there’s not enough for SS or veterans’ benefits or that Medicare can’t pay as much and so on. Then we go and do crap like this. It’s the epitome of govt waste. Everyone knows they are not all “refugees.”
