Obviously there are issues that need to be dealt with.
Good luck with that. Everything is digitized now. US adversaries have everything Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State foolishly allowed to pass through her unsecured server.
The MAGA folks would have had time to latch on to DeSantis or some other kook had the Republicans dispatched with Trump on January 6th.
Now the MAGA crowd won't want anything short of Trump on the ballot. You think you can just tell them ok we are going with Scott now? Lol good luck with that
Oh absolutely Trump's base will be solidified not destroyed by anything. Even if Trump says -- yup I did it -- so what.
It just speaks to the seriousness of the allegations.
Good post. I always liked to be reminded of how crooked Agnew was. The man was literally accepting bags of bribe money while Governor of Maryland, on behalf of the milk lobby, if I recall.
As for the indictments today against Mr. Trump. For those of you whom have read the indictments, this lesson springs out:
Every Single Witness named or whom provided evidence in the indictment was:
A Trump supporter.
A Trump employee.
A Trump family member.
A Trump campaign associate.
A Trump attorney.
And, Trump himself.
No George Soros. No Joe Biden. No Hunter Biden. No Hillary Clinton.
WE are selfishly looking at all of this through the eyes of American voters, citizens, residents but the rest of the world is reading that indictment and wondering if there are secrets they shared with USA at risk of being revealed.
Whether or not Trump is found guilty of a crime, it does appear he had documents which revealed some information that was at one time or still classified -- top secret. That included information about and from other countries.
Assume the case fails, Trump wins the Republican nomination and then wins the Presidential race. I'm sure that other countries will be very very very very careful what they share with the USA.
This has huge implications on the international stage.
Damage is done I think.
Really good and important post. Can you imaging representing the best interests of your overseas country at a summit and being approached by Trump wanting to do a deal with the US that required some discretion? I'd nope that.
If Trump ever gets access to those Top Secret documents again he will be able to complete whatever agenda he was on. I can bet all the foreign dignitaries who visit Mar-a-logo will be asking to use the "rest room."

Under previous administrations, the uncertainty associated with a new Chief Executive was generally tempered by the fact that there would be senior officials going back decades - officials with well-established relationships with their counterparts in allied countries. That precedence went away as Trump's administration purged a lot of those officials suspected of being disloyal, members of the "deep state" etc. etc.
