And its not just Disney. He went after cruise lines, teachers, schools, school boards, lawyers, restaurants and other businesses.
Except the things he is going after them for are related to things they’ve been doing all along - exposing kids to perversion.

DeSantis is a textbook authoritarian politician, and his base applaud him for it.
You mean like the way Conservatives' free speech and opinions were censored on social media after the Biden Administration meddled into the affairs of social media companies?

Florida under DeSantis has become more of a dumpster fire.

Fast-rising insurance rates, war on LGBTQ+, war on immigrants, war on women's health, stalled out construction sites, and book banning.

This laughably awful record is what he is going around shouting to be proud of, and him thinking folks should let him be the presidential GOP nominee.

It's part of why his numbers are tanking: him thinking he's done a good job, when people not living in Florida look at the record (besides the hardcore far right of like maybe 20%) he has and see it is an absolute disaster there.

Add in that his personality leaves a lot to be desired, he is not that likable, and he is simply not a good candidate.

No, I didn't mean something else, - meant what I said.

So what do you say to that?

One thing has nothing to do with the other.

In Disney's case the government is targeting them because they did not agree with the governors political agenda. Social media can moderate the content on their property, and if you want to discuss that, then there are many threads about it already

And please spare me from all the soviet style whataboutism.

There is no whataboutism. The Biden Administration clearly meddled into the affairs of social media companies and you said you were against anyone trying to stifle free speech. I guess you're OK with that.

So now that Floridians have decided Disney should die, what would central Florida look like without it?

Disney today is obviously not following Walt's vision. No one can take down Disney the way Disney can take down itself.
Should Hobby Lobby or Chick Fil A be punished? Should Goya foods? Or is it just the companies Republicans don't like that should be punished? Disney getting punished for disagreeing with DeSantis is astounding but more astounding is that Floridians support it even if it takes down Florida tourism in its wake.

Disney continues to make its own horrible decisions. It can always right the ship. It also has bigger problems than Desantis. These other companies have been rung through the ringer at one time or another.

Shrieking "BUT BIDEN" at every turn is textbook whataboutism. Government targeted Disney and punished them for disagreeing with government political agenda. No one was punished by the government when Facebook deleted conspiracies from their property.

Please discuss your concerns in the threads dedicated to them, because it has nothing to do with the topic here.

Only a political fanatic would support authoritarian governments. Of course Chick Fil A etc can voice their opinions, and should be able to do so without fear of getting targeted by the government.

By bending over? They should be free to do whatever they want, and if markets decide they are making bad choices, then let the markets decide. The government doesn't need to play a part in it, but as of now, the government is using every trick they know to sabotage the company.

This is the problem with pseudo-cons, they ADORE government overreach. That's why I said yesterday I miss conservatives, but there aren't many left.
