I hate debt as much as anyone I believe that debt is a sin akin to being addicted to heroin. I also am not a fan of McCarthy at all. But this was the correct move politically for republicans. The economy the joe Biden economy is on the precipice of a monster correction. It only needs one minor catalyst to set it ablaze. After all the damage joe Biden had done to our nation if republicans shut down the government and it triggered a recession they let joe off Scott free and republicans get the noose around their necks.

This was the correct play to make in the short run.

I guess the shutdown wouldn’t affect you. And that’s why you’d be ok with it.

He is a very dirty knife fighter of a politician. He would undercut any one, and has done so before.

His desire for the speakership was just raw ambition, he did not undertake the role from the notion that he could do some good. He did it to gratify his ego. I don't think he has any fundamental principles to live by.

Now he is caught in a web of his own making, he will never satisfy everyone.

I've never seen the Republican party so fractured; usually they present a solid front. McCarthy has the task of being chief cat herder for a broken party. Staying in power will certainly test his leadership skills, and frankly I don't know how he can get anything done without working with the Democrats.

I hope so. I was against him becoming Speaker in January.

In reality, I don't think he will.

One could only hope that McCarthy gets replaced. I think McCarthy should switch parties, he’d be much more comfortable and happier doing whatever the Biden administration told him to do.

As it is now, he has to fake that he doesn’t agree with the Democrats.

I would say he's possibly out. He cut a side deal behind their backs with McConnell to include Ukraine funding. Did he think we wouldn't find out?

Totally agree. I was not happy when he became speaker and I don't think he has done the job he was installed to do. Yet another spineless, disappointing republican.

McCarthy put the countries greater good over the extreme fring and they will bluster to have him removed but it will fail. The Freedom Caucus is less than 25% of Congress it time for the others to simply over vote them and make them realize that they aren't running the show, the adults are.

I don’t think so. I find him a calm and reasoned person, who looks for ways to compromise in order to move closer to the goal line. Of course, nobody likes when they lose ground, but I’m really sick of total stagnation along party lines.

Who do you think would be better? Nobody will make the Dems vote for anything that isn’t self serving.
