Adolf Hitler was "very smart" in the way he tricked England into letting him invade Sudetenland, Austria, Poland, France etc.
That didn't make him "not Hitler".
I prefer DeSantis over Trump by a large margin.
That being said, however, the above post is what it seems many people don't understand, and that is that it is not a fault, imo, for people can acknowledge the strengths of their enemies.
I would rather have a leader acknowledge that their enemies might actually pose a challenge than to assume that they are all stupid.

Calling an enemy very smart as part of a warning not to underestimate them does not constitute praising them. The U.S. military constantly warned its soldiers that the enemy is not stupid and quite capable in pretty much every war. The last thing you want to do is your soldiers thinking they're going to war against idiots. You can only beat an enemy if you respect their abilities.
Just like the North Vietnamese. They had way less than the American soldier but they were fighting in their land , for a cause and were smart and outlasted the U.S. They knew about their own country way more than the Americans. That is fighting smart.
When your enemy is superior like Israel and the U.S. are then you have to fight them smart and throw out the rule book. Yes, they are smart and ruthless. 2 thins you need to fight a war against a superior force. If you get easily offended by that then We lost the war.
I understand people can be both smart and evil. I see the evil, I don't see the smarts. This isn't a "gotcha" question - I'm honestly trying to understand what President Trump and the people sticking up for him believes is "smart" about this.
first , they pulled something off that no one thought they were capable of doing....
....planed it and kept it totally secret from Mossad...for over 2 years
and if you step back and look....made a total fool out of Israel's intelligence agency...Mossad
so yeah...do not underestimate them....they were "very smart"
I guess you have to call criminals and thugs world leaders and push for WW 3 as President instead of being an adult and find a peace settlement. We want war makers in the W.H.
We study the tactics of Geronimo, Rommel, RE Lee, genghis khan and even hitler because of their successes. It is folly not to learn from effective leaders no matter who. A realistic view vs propaganda used to dehumanize the enemy. DeS is barking up the wrong tree, time to get new advisors. DeS problem....listening to advisors instead of going with his gut.
I saw the clip. Just Trump ranting about nothing (again).
I went to the pain to actually listen to the statements and his remarks aren't especially useful, but it's typical for this day and age that much of the criticism over it is even dumber.
People say Trump lowered the tone, but it's the people who intentionally use specific soundbytes of political opponents out of context to misconstrue their meaning that are among the worst kind of political parasites in this country.
