The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s $250 million civil fraud trial on Friday fined the former president $5,000 and floated the idea of jailing him for defying a partial gag order requiring him to remove a post trashing the judge's law clerk on social media.

Trump should be jailed for a lot of things but not this it's stupid. This would guarantee him being elected president.

He posted online that the judge's clerk was Chuck Schumer's girlfriend.

Judge told him to stop that nonsense.

He didn't.

Though he deleted the post, he kept it on his website, and used it in fundraising emails. Though, to be fair, that might have been in the works when the judge told him to knock it off. But itwas up for several weeks before a reporter pointed it out.

Whether he is jailed or not, hard to see how Trump wins this election. He has never won an election before. He lost the first one by 3 million and the second one by 7 million. Though he retains some die hard worshippers, some followers appear to have drifted away. Could be the prison sentences are having a dampening effect. Who knows?

Many of his endorsements don't win, fewer are showing up for his rallies, and those that do show up don't seem as revved up somehow.

Amazingly, they are are still sending money in.

According to ABC, Trump raised $24.5 million last quarter, twice as much DeSantis. Pence raised $3.3 million. Talk about money down a rat hole.

Not only has he never won an election, everyone is on high alert this time around. Gerrymandered districts are being redrawn. Election lawsuits are being won. ...

Lock his @&& up!

Trump keeps pushing the boundaries further and further because for the last 8 years y'all keep saying he deserves punishment, but not for that.

If he walks down 5th Ave and shoot someone in the head, y'all will say "well... He deserves to be locked up...but not for that?"

STOP NORMALIZING BAD BEHAVIOR.
Anyone else their butts would be locked up.
This country is getting messed up because more and more bad behavior is being normalized.
Disobey a judge's orders, you sit your butt behind bars.
Period!!!

It is nonsense just like everything they are throwing at Trump hoping something will stick. That they have fought him starting before he was elected, promising to impeach him, and now trying to keep him from facing off against the senile and corrupt Biden, it sort of points out that something was fishy in the last election. If Biden was able to win, they would not be trying to crucify Trump from every possible direction.

Also, freedom of speech is under fire. I do not believe in gag orders, and if one was against me, I am sure I would violate it. Do only liberals have freedom of speech now? Rhetorical question as I know the answer.

Bad behavior is not illegal in a country with a constitution.

Where in the Constitution is it illegal or even improper for a judge to issue a gag order to maintain control of his courtroom?

Skip that - Where is it found in New York law?

For violating the gag order he was fined $5000 earlier today.

These judges must be scared to punish gag order violations.

$5000 is a joke of a deterrent.
