Sounds to me like they didnt send it out. "sent outside of official base messaging platforms"
When I was in the military there were plenty of non official platforms, such as facebook groups that people used to communicate. They werent ran by the military though and plenty of times they had incorrect info that people though was official. It happens.
Yep. MWR groups jump immediately to mind, as well.
Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-ND, responded to news of the message by releasing a statement that reads, in part:
“First of all, if somebody disguised as a ‘leader’ at Minot Air Force Base actually put out this hyper partisan left wing political message, they need to rescind it immediately. They need to apologize for it profusely and then they need to encourage the airmen at Minot Air Force Base who are inclined to attend a conservative, traditional American values rally to do exactly that and bring a friend. Then that leader, the so-called leader needs to be removed from their position.”
Per longstanding DoD policy, active duty personnel may not : engage in partisan political activities and all military personnel should avoid the inference that their political activities imply or appear to imply DoD sponsorship, approval, or endorsement of a political candidate, campaign, or cause. Members on active duty may not campaign for a partisan candidate, engage in partisan fundraising activities, serve as an officer of a partisan club, or speak before a partisan gathering.
Active duty members may: however, express their personal opinions on political candidates and issues, make monetary contributions to a political campaign or organization, and attend political events as a spectator when not in uniform.
What happened to the US military leadership being non-political????? Now they are going to tell members which political events they shall not attend?
