Some neighborhood high schools have smartened up and provided AP or IB programs to sequester the motivated kids from those who are simply in a holding pattern until they're unleashed on society with little to contribute to it. But not surprisingly, those programs are mostly concentrated in neighborhoods where you find the handful decent neighborhood elementary schools (which are K-8 in CPS as middle schools are almost non-existent) so those kids have some place to go if they don't get into one of the selective enrollment high schools. The kids stuck in poor-performing elementary schools are largely doomed to attend poor-performing high schools.

One thing is obvious about CPS: It's run far more for the benefit of the adults on the payroll than the kids they're supposed to serve.
All hail the powerful Chicago Teachers Union!!!

Must rid our society of Meritocracy.

Only POC may be allowed to thrive, all others must be cast down.

Well we are 34/40 in 2022 PISA.

This should cement our race to the bottom.

CRE requires everyone be as dumb as the dumbest student.

That's the problem...the STATE(Government) is the one who is deciding what is being taught. And the Government is saying it is more important to be equal than to allow people to have an education more appropriate for their skill level.

Left: White people are to be brought down so that everything is equal. We’re going to convince young white people to cheer on their own destruction through the public education system and universities. We’re going to instill left wing activists in HR at your corporate jobs to harass you, make sure you aren’t over represented, don’t get promotions. We’re going to take hostile minorities from the cities and place them in your quiet suburbs to make sure you aren’t overrepresented. Oh, while the government is tearing you white people down in the name of equality, we’re also going to make you finance the whole thing through your tax dollars. You better not say anything or else we will label you racist and destroy your life even quicker.

No. It's real. Typical Democrat reaction to the fact that some can achieve at a much higher level than others.

This will of course ACCELERATE the exodus of the most productive and highest contributing residents out of the city.
