Why?
What other state is importing drugs from outside the US?
Why? It’s cheaper for Floridians?
I don’t know what other state is importing drugs from outside the US. Why does that matter? Florida is doing what is best for Floridians. That’s what a good governor does
Ultimately it’s up to the Canadian government which negotiates drug prices with the pharmaceutical companies on behalf of Canadians NOT on behalf of Americans. Wholesale shipment of drugs to the U.S. which creates drug shortages in Canada will not be allowed.
If Americans want lower drug prices they should look to their own state and federal government to negotiate them not to the Canadian government to do so on their behalf
When your representatives are corrupt and in the pocket of Big Pharma, as an individual, Canada or Mexico is an option!
Not saying it wouldn't be a massive overhaul, and would take someone bold enough to do it, and it may not happen in our lifetime, but what is the alternative? If the US is at a place where they are looking to take advantage of other countries systems without changing their own, then that shows to me that your current situation is unsustainable and even right wing anti UHC politicians are forced to admit that some form of UHC or system benefits people.
the lower prices of meds, has NOTHING to do with uhc....it has to do with the US is paying extra high prices for your countries discount.
an example:
pill maker states this item costs $30 for 30 days......
country Canada, says we will give you $15 for 30 days.... USA gets STUCK paying $45 for 30 days.....
nope, but its been that way for decades, even the most liberal people (like bernie sanders) has stated that the reason the US pays so much, is the other countries getting discounts that the US never bothered to try to get
and if we did negotiate a discount, those other countries would feel the burn.
We do have less corruption, a lot less, but drug prices in Canada are lower because of our Universal Healthcare.
The Canadian government deals with big Pharma to set the prices. In other words, it's not a free market.
That usually scares some Americans, so I find it odd that people on the right support this.
At the time Trump tried this, I thought it hilarious and hypocritical of the right wing, wanting to use Universal Healthcare solutions from another country, to solve their own problems.
The reason why meds cost more in the USA is political corrupton, which allows Big Pharma to put a huge % of R&D costs onto their USA income statements, rather than spreading it out across the globe.
Thus, the USA is paying the Lions share of all Big Pharma's R&D costs, while the rest of the globe benefits.
Its a massive wealth redistribution scam, enabled by corrupt DC parasites.
I've been using a Canadian based pharmacy for over 10 years. Ships to my door.
Me too. For hubby’s inhaler ….was 400 bucks per at Costco. We pay cash for our meds. Did a google search. Found a legitimate Canadian website. Requires a script from our US doc. She says she does it for lots of her older patients….price is 256 for THREE inhalers…exact same med in same box.
Customer Service is excellent…they call regularly..we order 3 at a time
Not talking about those who get their meds thru insurance or Medicare D
Remember these are only drugs that can be legally used for executions, not imported/exported drugs in general.
That we execute criminals with lethal overdose is really stupid.
The condemned deserve a quick and sure death, and a merciful death is one that is quck, sure, and sudden.
If we take away all the ghastly display we have built into our current ways of execution, and would allow a few authorized onlookers a little bit of shock and discomfort, we could send condemned convicts to their final reward in no time flat at no great cost to anyone.
The Russians do it all the time. The convict wakes up, goes to breakfast but takes a right turn before he reaches the mess hall, and 30 seconds and a bullet later, goes out the back to the cemetary.
The British were almost as quick when they still executed people using hanging, always less reliable that a point-blank bullet- the executioner simply took charge, led the condemned to the gallows trap, and dropped them as fast as it could happen.
Personally, I like the idea of a firing squad. It's scary, noisy, bloody, fast, and reliable.
It offers some deterrent value to the execution. It also satisfies the national gun-love and its blood lust much better.
There's some balance in live by the gun and die by the gun that might make more people think twice before they warmed their gun up, or think guns are the answer to every dispute.
You seem to be ignoring the irony, or hypocrisy of your position.
You are using the benefits of a country that has UHC. If you don't want to pay taxes for someone's else's medication, why should Canada allow you to benefit from our system? Especially when you are opposed to UHC.
Saying UHC not kind to the middle class makes no sense to me.
The irony is your Country allows it. Oh well, Canada gets it back by having our military next door.
