1) Nobody respects the bumbling 81 year old dementia patient who is also (in name only) the Commander In Chief.

2) Military people were outraged by what happened in Kabul. They are so disgusted that they have told their younger relatives do not join up.

3] Seeing General Milley and General Brown play the DEI race card disgusts many white people. Again, they are telling their younger relatives to not join up.

So how do we fix this?

The answer is very simple. Get rid of the people who are currently in charge of DC. Get rid of the Generals who are nothing more than defacto political appointees.

If Biden gets a second term, recruiting will get worse.

I think people greatly discount a president’s role in shaping the military. Biden is the first president in my life time who is completely disrespected, and for good reason. The troops loved Obama and they loved Trump. Thats an absolute fact.

We need a president who can be respected. That’s the fix.
good post. no one respects mr. magoo.

Well the government keeps telling us that being White is bad so why would White people want to "give to their country" when their country now scorns them and blames them for all the problems with minorities ?

Let the minorities sign up for the military while the White people stay at home and contemplate their "White privilege".

They've moved on to the "it's GOOD that our military can't meet its recruitment goals" stage of denial.

Who in their right mind would sign up, or encourage their young adult sons/daughters to sign up for that?

Way to totally miss the point. Well done.

YOU are talking about the "white male persecution" complex.

Besides, I think the claim in the thread title is totally made up and serves only as an example of the idiocy which people push these days. I'm white, and I never met a white person who'd say "the nation scorns at me because I'm white". If people have become that weak mentally, then we have bigger problems, and there is nothing anyone can do about it, except maybe emotional support from family or a professional counselor.

No sympathy for this one, this is stupid.

If Black Males can serve at percentages higher than their Total population percentage DURING Jim Crowe, the crack era, and now with all the social media crap bashing Black males constantly, then White males should be fine right now.

You either want to serve or not, if you crying about how social media hurt your feelings or a Company put a black person on a poster instead of "You", then you were never cut out to serve in the first place. Bullets and bombs are way scarier than social media posts.

IMO the angle that youngsters are not enlisting due to wars, implying an increased risk or death or wounding is pretty silly. The death or injury of any young person is brutal. However, we lose more young people in a few weeks currently via drugs than have died in battle over the last 30 years. Further, the overwhelming majority of those who sever never see 1 second of combat.

Wars with Russia, China or Iran would be a lot different, with much higher American casualty counts, than the wars of the last 20 years. To think youngsters should be willing to catch bullets in a Banker's war because some kids die of drugs is beyond ludicrous.

This. Those of us that managed to keep from going to Vietnam have since seen our kids and grandkids going off to wars in Cambodia, Lebanon, Grenada, Libya, the Persian Gulf, Iraq, Somalia, Bosnia, Haiti, Afghanistan Yemen and even Uganda. Again thousands dying for a cause not directly affecting the lives of the U.S. citizens. Eventually only the desperate looking for 3 square meals and a roof over their head will be enlisting, and that's not encouraging considering that one day some country may actually attack us here at home and we will really need a well prepared force.
