Owner-Operators like this carry 70% of the Nation's freight. They could shut down NY in just a few weeks, & bring the State to its knees.
What will happen next? The gov't can't make them go into New York, if they don't want to.
Not much will happen. I bet Trump never asked the truckers to boycott New York in support of his behalf. It actually sounds like a really juvenile, immature plan to me since it hasn't been well thought out about what the consequences will be to the boycotting truckers and to Trump.
Seriously, just what exactly are they hoping to accomplish, and for whom?
They made a mistake that will make Trump look even worse than he already looks instead of doing him any good because it's political and it's specifically because of Trump that the boycott was suggested. Everyone will say that Trump instigated and encouraged it and it will be shades of January 6 all over again for Trump, so there'll be more backlash and damage for Trump and no good will come of it for Trump.
No good will come of it for the boycotting truckers either, in fact they will be doing more harm to themselves than to whoever they claim to be boycotting. The truckers who boycott NY have just given their respective employers a good, legitimate excuse to fire the whole lot of them and be glad to see them permanently gone and off their payrolls.
So the truckers will all be fired and worst of all for them they'll be blackballed throughout the whole trucking industry so they won't be able to do trucking work for anyone else either. That's because nobody wants to hire troublemakers to work for them when they know the high risk is there that it will cause the employers to lose money in the future. The boycotters will be easily replaced by other truckers who mind their own business, want to work and don't believe in mixing their work and their income potential with their politics. The boycotters are very few in numbers, they certainly don't represent anything close to 70% of all truckers so they'll be like a drop in a bucket and they won't be missed.
Close to nothing. A few dozen truckers or so will end up boycotting NYC, maybe a hundred at the most, and those will easily be replaced by other truckers who don't want to get fired or reprimanded, and after that it won't take long until those truckers who participated in the boycott realize the whole thing is futile, so they'll shrug and get back to doing their normal work.
In the meantime a few stores might get their deliveries a day late or so.
It's interesting that people on the Left usually argue from a financial perspective. So many of the replies here are along the lines of "those stupid truckers are only hurting their own paychecks."
Is that all you care about? Money? Really?
Some things are more important than money. When you realize that, and you will, you'll be well on your way to understanding your political opponents. Right now, you guys don't understand jack schmidt.
Truck drivers are already at a deficit. They are like toilet paper at the height of the covid craze. They hold the cards right now. Ball is in their court. So we’ll just have to grab some popcorn and see how this plays out.
Better call for a pizza and/or sandwitches because I have the feeling we might not have enough popcorn to see the upcoming show.
If our truckers protest grows to similar proportions, & Biden responds harshly, Biden & the Dems will likely take a big hit in the polls, which they can ill afford just before the November elections.

I'm not sure how close your are to the trucking industry, but from my understanding is that if there is a boycott, it's mostly owner-operators who have the flexibility to boycott. So technically, they don't work for a company, they are independent contractors. 350,000 to 400,000 truck drivers in the U.S. and Canada are owner-operators.
As for truckers who are employees, there are tens of thousands of small trucking companies out there that could make an impact if they want, with little repercussions, since there is such a great need for truckers.
At the larger freight companies, I'm sure the truckers there will feel pressured not to lose their jobs. But if they did, most wouldn't have a problem finding work elsewhere, especially if they are a trucking veteran and have good records.
I suspect this boycott will fail. It’s actually quite easy to work in an industry, make a lot of money, while disliking or not agreeing with the ideology of your superiors. All you have to do is vent, sort of what we do here on this website, and then go collect your money.
