Your tax dollars at work... for the Taliban.

U.N. Has Flown More Than $2.9 Billion in Cash to Afghanistan Since the Taliban Seized Power, Diverting U.S. Funds

The United Nations has delivered more than $2.9 billion in cash to Afghanistan since the Taliban seized control, resulting in the flow of U.S. funds to the extremist group, according to a recent government report.

The U.N. deposits the cash into a private Afghan bank and disburses funds to the agency’s aid organizations and nonprofit humanitarian groups. But the money does not stop there, the report found. Some winds up at the central bank of Afghanistan, which is under the control of the Taliban. The group took over the country after the withdrawal of U.S. forces in August 2021.

...
Most of the money that’s going in cash through the U.N. is ultimately coming from U.S. taxpayers,” John Sopko, the inspector general, said in an interview. “It’s going to a terrorist group. The Taliban are a bunch of terrorists.”

...
After getting the money from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the U.N. flies shrink-wrapped $100 bills to the Kabul International Airport. The money arrives on a regular basis, as much as $40 million at a time, according to posts from the Afghan central bank on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The article states that we are responsible for $2.6B of the $2.9B that ends up in Afghanistan.

It's not like we need the money here...

Trump was right again about the U.N. Remember how the Left was bashing him mercilessly when he criticized the U.N.?

Trump signed our effective surrender there and we’re still paying them? Humiliating.

Weren’t people facing starvation?

Like it or not but we occupied that region for 20 years with no exit plan. Biden had to be the one to cut the chord.

But don’t think I’m saying Biden is the good guy when he’s allowing Israel to block aid making it do we have to build a port just to get around Israel.

You don't the cord by taking out the military first, handing the keys over to the 6th largest military in the world to a Terrorist group, all its weapons, machinery and then let the people who helped the US, fend for themselves against the Taliban (many of which have been tortured and killed).

This showed extreme weakness and is the reason why Putin went right into Ukraine.

Not only are we giving billions to this murderous regime, but the Taliban Supreme Leader just announced that public stoning of women will restart.

I wonder if the left would support public stoning of women in America?

The Taliban was handed power by the Trump administration which negotiated the end of American involvement without including the Afghan government.

So - we should have kept the fight going after 18 years? Should we have kept fighting? And what would the goal be?

It's one thing to stop fighting. It's totally different to be funding them billions of dollars.
