Well, he's not wrong about the landline thing. He is wrong about electric vehicles being ready for prime time, though.

Right thought, wrong comparison.

There still are many people who don't own cell phones because they don't have the need for them. Some don't want to have to adapt to them, but others will once the need arises with no fuss or bother.
Just as it happened with the cell phones themselves. As they got better and better, more folks wanted them.

Electric vehicles have many more advantages for today's drivers than the internal combustion vehicles, but those advantages are not universal.

Cars aren't like telephones.
But they would be if all the cell phones came with gasoline-powered motors to operate them.

What Pete should have asked is: Will we ever go back to gasoline once recharging our car is as easy as filling the gast tank?

I"m sure that 100 years from now there will still be a need for gasoline-powered engines. It will be about the same as the need we have now for draft horses.

EV sales are down outside of the US so it's not just Americans or the US Car Market.

There have however been better sales news in terms of hybrid vehicle sales in the US and other markets.

I really don't therefore see how this is unique to the US or why a US politician would point the finger at Americans in this respect.

The US is behind Europe and China when it comes to EV's, most countries have increased their ownership.

.

'cept they lack the #1 one.... (256-288 miles range as pictured, before the fuel light comes on)

This is pretty much the sole reason why its in the garage. and a 450+ mile range, untowing, before the light comes on. The EV that mimics this in every facet, is not even on the drawing boards yet.

Not by much and not for long.
Switching has some kinks that needed to be straightened out. That's all that is needed, and they won't take very long to straighten out now.
Too many folks have already decided that if they build it, we will come.

When it comes to newness, has the rest of the world ever had much to do with us and our ways?

Many apartments still have wires and optical cables for Internet.
Some companies offer Internet via cell phones, but still can't provide stable services.

The point of these 2 posts is, I am close to FRA, I aint buying <s-word>, least of all a compromise. IF you want me to spend more, like, um way more. 2-3 times more, it had better come with a lot of options and features, and some of them had better look like Margot Robbie in a bubblebath with disposable morals...
