"Pete Buttigieg mocks Americans who don't want electric cars and claims they are like people in the 'early 2000s' who wanted 'landline phones forever"
"Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg made fun of Americans who don't want to buy electric cars, claiming they're the same as people didn't want to adapt to cell phones in the 2000s."
"Buttigieg was speaking on Fox News Tuesday afternoon when he was asked about a downturn in sales of Teslas and electric vehicles despite Biden's administration pushing them...."
There still are many people who don't own cell phones because they don't have the need for them. Some don't want to have to adapt to them, but others will once the need arises with no fuss or bother.
Just as it happened with the cell phones themselves. As they got better and better, more folks wanted them.
Electric vehicles have many more advantages for today's drivers than the internal combustion vehicles, but those advantages are not universal.
Cars aren't like telephones.
But they would be if all the cell phones came with gasoline-powered motors to operate them.
What Pete should have asked is: Will we ever go back to gasoline once recharging our car is as easy as filling the gast tank?
I"m sure that 100 years from now there will still be a need for gasoline-powered engines. It will be about the same as the need we have now for draft horses.

'cept they lack the #1 one.... (256-288 miles range as pictured, before the fuel light comes on)
This is pretty much the sole reason why its in the garage. and a 450+ mile range, untowing, before the light comes on. The EV that mimics this in every facet, is not even on the drawing boards yet.
The US is behind Europe and China when it comes to EV's, most countries have increased their ownership.
Not by much and not for long.
Switching has some kinks that needed to be straightened out. That's all that is needed, and they won't take very long to straighten out now.
Too many folks have already decided that if they build it, we will come.
When it comes to newness, has the rest of the world ever had much to do with us and our ways?
claiming they're the same as people didn't want to adapt to cell phones in the 2000s."
Many apartments still have wires and optical cables for Internet.
Some companies offer Internet via cell phones, but still can't provide stable services.

'cept they lack the #2 one.... (300 miles range as pictured)
This is pretty much the sole reason why its in the OTHER garage. and a 450+ mile range, untowing.. The EV that mimics this in every facet, is not even on the drawing boards yet. And never will be. You know how much a mint conditon square body is worth? and climbing?
The point of these 2 posts is, I am close to FRA, I aint buying <s-word>, least of all a compromise. IF you want me to spend more, like, um way more. 2-3 times more, it had better come with a lot of options and features, and some of them had better look like Margot Robbie in a bubblebath with disposable morals...
