The federal government has spent nearly $1 million on research investigating whether or not racial microaggressions are negatively impacting the health of Hispanic people.
Researchers at the University of Houston have received $958,283 in grant funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to determine if ethnic microaggressions directed toward “Latinx” populations are leading to elevated rates of alcoholism, smoking and obesity, grant records show. One of the HHS-funded studies defines microaggressions as “brief, subtle forms of everyday discrimination due to racial/ethnic status.”
Why is it that white people never suffer all of these infinite maladies when surely we are picked on more than any other race? When we get fat, drunk and stupid we pretty well accept that we done f'd up somewhere along the line.
Nothing new about the government wasting taxpayer money. It stinks, but I don't know what, if anything, can be done about it.
Btw, just out of curiosity, I thought that Latinos objected to the "Latinx" designation. Am I wrong about that? Honestly it is so hard to keep track of what offends people these days!

Pretty much take ANYONE in a bad situation and you can trace back to something THEY did that put them in whatever bad station they are in. Whether it is criminal behavior, alcoholism, drugs, temper, gambling, etc.
And the ones that are in bad situations that didn't do that, lived a good life but just had bad luck or some tragedy are the ones that still make due, struggle, and not complain to the government to justify ridiculous expensive studies like this.
Some wanna be taken as individuals when it comes to crime stats yet at the same time want to be taken as a group when it comes to the handouts and oppressed micro aggression meter.

If you blame microagressions for your alcoholism, it's pretty much guaranteed you'll remain an alcoholic. No government grant will change that.

I recall some other high $$$ dopey grant that was studying why American lesbians are often obese also. "I'm fat because I'm gay! Its a natural condition!"

Let's do a study to see if constantly telling people they're victims make them less likely to succeed in life.
