Marjorie Taylor Greene brought to the House a few weeks ago a Motion to vacate the Speakership and force out Mike Johnson She held off a timeline initially, but has stated she will force a vote on it next week. Thomas Massive of Kentucky and Paul Gosar of Arizona have come out as co-sponsors though its unclear if any other Republicans are on board. With the slim majority, it would be enough to Vacate the Speakership if Democrats voted in favor of. However, Democratic leadership has indicated they will vote to table the motion, which certainly would kill the motion since the vast majority of Republicans will vote to table.

I think Johnson made a deal with the dems or enough of them to keep him in the speakership in return for passing the Ukraine war bill. I doubt she will be successful. While it would damage the GOP further watching them struggle to elect a new speaker the next one could be worse for the DEMS. If they are able to work with Johnson likely he will be there until the election.

She needs to chill a few more weeks until the Republican majority gains a few more votes in 2 special elections.

It's too tight to pull off right now...she's being overly impatient.

Look, I've soured quite a bit of Speaker Johnson, too. But this thing where we abdicate the throne because someone does or says one thing out of line needs to stop. This makes us look completely ridiculous to middle of the road voters AKA people you need to win elections. We barely have a majority as it is. Stop acting like we have a fifty seat majority. A new Speaker isn't going to make a lick of difference, considering we don't control the Senate or White House.

Yep. And I have soured on him too, he seems to have completely changed his stance...apparently soon after he'd met with the Democrats. And I agree that there is nothing that can be done about it at this moment in time, so MTG should just sit down and shut up for now.

Unless I missed it, I still haven't heard anything about MTG's game plan for what she plans on doing if they do manage to toss Johnson. Maybe she doesn't even have one?

Mike Johnson certainly is a disappointment.

Why bother.
The next speaker will be bribed, threatened or blackmailed just like this one likely is.

It almost seems like she knew she wasn't going to get anywhere with this and it was just a grandstanding move.

Seems a lot like she is just scraping free publicity in an election year.

Removing Johnson would be great news for the Democrats. Proving that the current republican party is the party of chaos and do nothing
