I'm always troubled by statements like those above. I think it often gets lost that the Constitution was drafted by a bunch of middle-aged white guys (some of whom were slave holders) representing their States. The Constitution is absolutely a man-made document created within the confines of the existing governmental structure in the late 1780's. It is not some divine language or set of laws passed down from God. The men who created it (like all of us) were flawed, and much of the language was the subject of significant disagreement among the document's authors. The Bill of Rights was hardly unanimously agreed upon. It is a precious, important, and historical document, but like all laws---they are made by men through the structure of the existing government.
And what does skin color have to do with the Constitution.
...
Drugs is an interesting variable, drugs are much more potent now than they were back then.
Covid lockdowns I’ll agree harmed a lot of youth in their formative years, the lack of socialisation had to have had a negative impact.
It’s like a lot of kids have no purpose and little regard for themselves, let alone their fellow humans.
ETA - as an aside note, not to make it too personal, but all schools in my state have now banned the use of phones on school grounds. They have to lock their phones in a pouch and it gets unlocked leaving school. My kid loves it, says students are so much more connected with each other and it’s actually more chill at school. It’s been in place for a year now. Be interesting to see how this pans out.
I agree with the above.
Prescription drugs being shoved down kids' throats for every little thing. Bored in class? You're too hyper, take this drug. You are anxious about tests, or making friends, or being made fun of? Instead of learning to cope, take this drug. You're not as 'popular' on social media as others are, and now you're depressed? No need to learn that it doesn't matter in the bigger picture, take this drug.
The whole plandemic, I believe really screwed up a lot of kids. This kid was 10 when it started. Told you could die if you don't do x, y, z, every waking moment, and no! You may not see your grandparents who fawn all over you and bring you happiness! You'll kill them, and possibly yourself! No! You may not play with your friends! Not even outside in the fresh air and sun. You'll kill your friends, or they'll kill you! No one gets to see facial gestures, stop being selfish hoping to see a smile on anyone's face! Do you want them to die!?
School: You're straight and white? Evil child! You cause all of the problems in the world with all of that privilege you have! Grovel at the feet of everyone who isn't white...except the Asians, we don't like them either what with their work ethic, acing tests and assignments, sailing easily into colleges and universities...despicable!
No, seriously, you're really not a boy. You "act" like a girl. Put a dress on! Stop pretending you're a boy! Selfish and racist!
This country is horrible! Do not be proud or happy to live here. Shame!
Everyone who is not you is better than you, and more deserving of everything.
You are to learn to work until you're 70!
Meanwhile, we'll tell you that Putin wants drop a nuclear weapon on you.
This is what kids have been put through in the last 5 years, alone (with possible slight exaggerations...very slight).

If you discredit a document because of the color of the skin of the people who wrote it, then I'm not listening to anything more that you have to say.
Do better.

Having said that, I'm pretty confident that "better" in your mind only means agreeing with your perspective.
Yeah, sorry, that’s exactly what a statement like that does, whether you intended it that way or not. And, as someone who is not middle aged, white, or a guy, I am grateful for the enlightened guiding document those founding fathers created in a time period when such rights had not existed elsewhere. I get sick and tired of people of another era being judged by the sensibilities of today.
That said, those framers of over 200 years ago could not have fathomed the lethality of the guns of today - so, yeah, there is a big difference between a 14-year old with a musket and one with an automatic weapon.

Middle school kid (Damian Haglund), 14, stole his grandfathers car and gun at 11:00 AM yesterday, crashed the car into a house, then walked to the middle school parking lot, firing multiple rounds. Students alerted parents and school officials.
Until we start throwing the parents and grandparents of the shooters in jail for life or worse this will be the new normal. Keeping guns comes with a responsibility. Let us replace gun control with owners' control.
Kids used to have enough morals to not steal guns from their parents or grandparents.

And I am pretty sure these types of people also wonder why nobody wants to be a cop anymore. I would love to see how a bleeding heart individual would disarm a crazed teen with a rifle. As posted earlier… You go first and show the rest of us how since we’re too stupid to figure this out for ourselves.
I have to agree with what was posted earlier… The world is better off without this mentality unbalanced kid.
Sadly some people need to be put down BEFORE they put down innocent people.

Do you suppose that the framers of the Bill of Rights who did their written communication with a turkey quill dipped into a bottle of ink would have ever even imagined that we would be communicating almost instantaneously in writing with people all over the world with computers? Probably not, but is that any reason that "freedom of speech" should be removed from the Bill of Rights?
I know that you didn't "say" that the second amendment should be removed, but you at least implied that it is outdated and perhaps should be revised if not outright removed.
BTW, a 14-year-old in possession of an automatic weapon is a crime in and of itself even if he didn't shoot anyone with it. Even a legal aged adult needs a special license/permit to own or possess an automatic weapon... and even that doesn't give him the right to shoot anyone with it. Just an FYI.
