Quote:
the U.S. has lost a great deal of credibility abroad due to the erosion of what was once seen as the greatest system of jurisprudence in the world. No longer. Enemies like China and Russia now boast that America’s new political prosecutions are similar to their own systems, or even more egregious, and will welcome us into their own customs of bastardized justice.
Latin-American, African, and Asian dictators are delighted that the U.S. has lost the moral authority to lecture them on the need for a disinterested and independent judiciary and the rule of law.
Our democratic allies in Europe and Asia are increasingly disturbed that the instability and unlawfulness apparent in the current lawfare put into question the reliability of the United States and its adherence to a rules-based order—whether at home or abroad.
Any president who would sic the justice system on his opponent might be equally vindictive and lawless to his allies abroad.
I love Victor Davis Hanson!

This is a sad sad state for the United States

He's right, you know. We have lost all moral authority. The effects of Democrat lawfare will be felt for decades.

In their TDS-enraged quest to get Trump they have severely damaged our nation, stomping on our traditions, all under the promise they were trying to save it.

Not to mention we no longer have a right to condemn their self-proclaimed "most secure election in [fill in the name of corrupt country] history".

Trump stomped on our tradition of a peaceful transfer of power. The Obama’s couldn’t stand him but they put country first. And it was a peaceful transfer of power which is what our founders wanted. This is what our leaders do. Trump put himself first and not our country. And that is no leader. No one has this tds you claim. Country always comes first, not a person.

Presidential persecutions are indeed a sad situation.

Republicans did their best to impeach the POTUS based on lies told by foreign spies. Lacking any evidence or proof of any kind whatsoever, it appears they have backed down from this for the moment. Stay tuned.

Republican Speaker of the House, a man second in line to the presidency, is publicly bad mouthing the Justice Department for doing its job -- bringing those who commit crimes to justice. Enforcing the rule of law. (Documents and witness testimony are clear Trump violated the law. In this case, filing false financial reports, and violating campaign finance laws.)

Republican-dominated Supreme Court has held up the wheels of justice in other cases by drawing out this business of whether U.S. Presidents are immune from the rule of law.

No wonder those in other countries are wondering what the hell is happening over here.

Victor Davis Hanson is a National Treasure.
Here is a recent interview with him where he nails the reason to vote for Trump and what Trump is doing differently and successfully even though he is crude and vulgar.

I know Victor has tenure, but I’m always amazed that Stanford university hasn’t found a way to censure him.

As much as I agree with his basic point, it didn't help that you had a con man screaming "lock her up" every 5 minutes. I know Trump sycophants say that was just campaign hyperbole, but their are consequences to his non stop defecation on norms and institutions.

The norms and institutions you say he defecates on are what got us to within a hair's breadth of electing Hillary Clinton as president in the first place.

We needed a pigeon on the chess board that is our corrupt government to strut around, knock over all the pieces, crap all over the board and declare victory. Trump may not be the pigeon you want but he is the pigeon we need.

The GOP 2016 campaign revolved around political prosecution, there years of congressional hearings with no criminal indictments, the 2024 one is filled with persecuting the biden crime family, but its the democcrats who ratched this up? sure
