I mean, we can talk about the car but I'm more curious that why, with all of the gas shortage stories, our American newspapers aren't jumping on every story that deals with alternative fuel innovation.
I must say I did see a clip on a TV news broadcast, yesterday, that made me look for more info on Google News but I find the only places reporting on it are India, Australia and Canada.
Why is it that when I do a Google News search for this new Japanese car that runs on water, I don't see any coverage by an American newspaper?
Whats to report on?
The company hasn't provided details on, nor patented the "secret" technology yet.
At this point it's all smoke and mirrors just like the magnets you stick on your fuel line
I bet if you contact them, they will let you become an investor
The Company has not called a full press conference. The "article" linked said they powered the lights with a lead acid battery charged by the new system. Sounds a bit fishy.

I vaguely, really vaguely remember the magnets on the fuel line idea. When was that, do you remember?
The idea of running on water is really nothing new. Ustabe, many years ago, a car named the Stanley Steamer. Kinda like a steam engine, but at least on a railroad, the fuel (coal, wood) could be hauled along with the engine. Kinda beats the idea with a steam car, eh?
I wonder if this Japanese car company has any ties to Nigeria?

I don't think you need to look much further than the power the Big Three automakers and Big Oil wield in this country to get the answer.
Well, based on the power output of the fuel cell in the article, if they used the same technology to create a cell powerful enough to move a car along at 60 mph, you'd need a tractor-trailer-sized vehicle to carry it
Not really a whole lot to report about wrt solving the current gas crisis..........

laura I think you can see why this article didn't make it to america based on the posters above. Still stuck on SUV's? Don't want to believe leaps and bounds in technology & engineering can happen? Americans are too lazy to bother building anything? I don't get it either.
I think this technology looks promising. Considering auto mfg's are in design stages for electric cars to be coming out in 2010 the earliest, and the infrastructure for recharging electric cars isn't around yet, I'm thinking this could be another version of a hybrid to extend mileage. Electric/hydro car.
Range on electric cars are limited to charging station distances. Batteries got smaller and lighter, solar panels on roof, and now another alternative source to feed them. Wow, real progress!!! Thanks for this link.
I think instead of pushing for the highway quickly these might be the fuel source for forklifts that operate indoors=zero emissions. Better place for initial applications @ home depot/lowes test market IMO.
(ps- how do we keep this water from freezing in wintertime I wonder? Will antifreeze interfere with membrane performance? still got some bugs to work out)

They don't even have a patent yet!
Some unknown Japanese brain trust cooks up a press release, offers no technical details and everyone wants to believe them right away?
Don't get me wrong, I hope they are on to something, but too much remains to seen.

Another America hater
This is why things don't get done, haters like you gum up the works.
If the technology has merit and there is money to made..it will get done.
P.S....P.T. Barnum loved people like you.
