this should be fun. there are a lot of people on different coasts claiming that one is better than the other. name your state, and give your reason. which state in our history is the most important. which state was home to the ones that enriched our lives?

For purely personal reasons, Florida, where I lived until a year ago and where I long to be now. Do not know which state in our history is more important. Just purely selfish reasons here.

Wicked question.
First I thought Mass because we would not have a country if they were not embargoed, then I thought Pennsylvania, because without the aid of Ben Franklin we would not exist either, then I thought Nevada, because its creation supported the Lincoln presidency. My ideas. Can't wait to hear more.

I actually think that every state has given us something. there are several snobby people on these forums that give less credit to certain regions, and it gets annoying. I have my favorite, but I won't let the cat out of the bag yet.

My historical self says Virginia, since it gave us Washington, Jefferson, Madison, and Monroe.

My cultural self says New Jersey, since it gave us Frank Sinatra, Duke Ellington, Thomas Edison, and Bruce Spingsteen.

Oh, and me. <blush>

NY, the state immigrants used to come into, with a huge economy and work force that many states will never reach. (and no, I'm not from NY)
