In the mid-80's, I theorized (and told my friends---there were no message boards then) that, with a few highly skilled exceptions, every American over the age of 30 currently has the last good job he is ever going to have. But that nobody will realize that until they personally lose their own good job.

I believe that was true then, and is still true, and the populace is still in denial.

When the population as whole becomes outraged enough to demand change, it will happen. Thats the way change happens in america. When have we achieved the greatest reform? In the 30s because of the depression, and in the 60s because of vietnam and civil rights. Things get done fast when theres a will for it. Once we bottom out, a whole rats nest of problems can be worked out, legislated and passed within a couple years. Dont know why we always have to be shamed and disgraced before we turn the ship around, but once we do, look out world.

BTW, we have the food. No need to buy euros or gold, buy land. God dont make it anymore.

But the Supreme Court has ruled that a taxing authority can take land away from you, if they think they can get more tax out of somebody else.

Wish this was true, for it to be so the US either would have to pay the tens of trillions of debt, or repudiate it ,neither is even remotely possible.

That's an interesting observation, in terms of the stated goals of the Deparment of Defense. Constitutionally, the military was established to defend out country but in every statement they ever make now, it is clear that the purpose of our military is to defend our interests.

We are already a second rate country compared to many European nations. The question is whether we will continue on down to third world status. In less than 50 years we will be a Spanish speaking country and will be a lot more like Mexico is today, including the crime and corruption. It's simple demographics and nothing can stop it.

Now it's more like 60 million and counting with no health insurance or are very under-insured...I'm voting yes.
