Honestly, in where I'm living, I can't even tell that we're in a "recession" with all of the same snooty, pretentious, materialistic, snobbish, cutthroat and backstabbing attitudes that have prevailed during the 2000s. But with the way how Americans are acting, including an excess of materialism to determine self-worth, living beyond one's means for pleasure, spending more than saving, being wasteful with overdoing the ACs and SUVs, doing their damnedest to emulate celebrities and Beverly Hills residents, and caring more about money than about their family, friends, and faith (as opposed to religion), America is LONG overdue for a second (and graver) depression. At least then it will bring back a lot of humility this nation has lost over the last decade.
And it would be sort-of neat to tell your grandchildren stories about "The Second Great Depression."
if mccain gets into office it will be a recession, if osama gets into office it shall be a huge depression.
Actually, it's just the opposite. McCain will spend another 3 trillion to invade Iran, the dollar will be nearly worthless, and the economy will be in an irrevokable tailspin. Obama will do his best to clean up Bush's mess, which fits the pattern.

yeah by taxing the working amercians to pay for his illegal socialist economic programs, probably in the tune of 6 trillion or more, plus borrow on more to raise our national debt even higher.

6 trillion? HAHAHA! Not unless McCain invades Syria as well, and mind you, the Dems might spend 3 trillion, but it will be to rebuild American infrastructure and provide American jobs, not kill another million civillians!
How in the world are democrats going to provide jobs when since they have controlled congress inflation has gone up as well as the jobless rate. That is why their job rating is the the 20% class now;worse than Bush's. They have become know as the do nothng congress for a reason.

These Dems suck they arent like the "old" Dems who did exactly what you stated put money back into the country these Dems are not our parents Dems.
Not sticking up for Reps in the slightest way as they are Neocon nuts but they to are not the old Reps.
I hope your right and the Dems if Obama wins use the money for America but I wouldnt hold my breath
I think it is a very scary position that we are in. I mean banks crumbling out from underneath themselves, consumers just realizing the personal debt that they are actually in, real estate foreclosures running ramped pulling down the value of everyone's houses, not to mention the stock market falling and oh yeah, the large corporations, like the big 3 auto companies facing chapter 11: How is there not a problem going on here?
The fact is that we are in a huge problem and right now those that don't think we are just have not felt it hit them yet. If there truly was no problem at all then the government would not be stepping in like they are. People would not be loosing there jobs and companies would not be going out of business as rapidly as they are. Even our newly appointed President Barrack Obama of the United States said we are facing a problem!
If you were to ask me if we were in a recession, I would say, "Yes, we are in a recession!" The reason why some people say we aren't is because they don't want to face the truth, or for some bewildered reason they do not comprehend the definition of a recession:
Main Entry: 1re·ces·sion
Pronunciation: \ri-ˈse-shən\
Function: noun
1 : the act or action of receding : withdrawal
2 : a departing procession
3 : a period of reduced economic activity
— re·ces·sion·ary \-shə-ˌner-ē\ adjective

I suppose the problem is that the word recession is too vague. Not even economist can agree on when we are in a recession, when it is all there in black and white. Something does need to be done, but it needs to be done right, or else we will find ourselves, in what President Barrack Obama called "a catastrophe"! (Note for the economist that can't figure out whether we are in a recession or not that "catastrophe" kind of rhymes with recession, but begins with a 'D'.) That's right, "a Depression".
I would like to say that we probably won't see a depression as long as our congressman, banks, and CFO's of the large corporations, like the big 3 auto companies cut the fat and create the right plans to make it easier for Americans to barrow money again allowing entrepreneurs to create small businesses and providing America with a high wealth of jobs and services like we have done for the past so many years. If we don't find a solution to this problem soon I would say that we are looking at a depression in the next 8 to 10 years or, maybe even sooner.
