Once again - you are mistaken.

Local law enforcement agencies around the country are beginning to do what originally started in AZ - and that is, having their law enforcement officers trained in Federal immigration issues and local law enforcement become sworn Federal officers - this allows them to enforce immigration laws in addition to their normal duties - and often times, the duties actually cross over.

For instance, in the numerous cases of human smuggling uncovered in the West, the coyotes, often illegals themselves, are illegally detaining, for ransom, other illegals. Not only do you have kidnapping issues (local), human smuggling issues (local) but illegal immigration issues (federal) to boot - officers are able to detain those in country illegally now, turn them over to ICE for processing and deportation.

Like I said - more and more departments are following suit

Lesson to Happ. RW rants about illegals are not required to support ideological views with factual bases. To do so might contradict the dogma that there something nefarious about brown-skinned people who come to the United States to work.

let me explain something to you. crappy jobs pay crappy wages. that is the first thing the apologists don't recognize. the typical american who needs a job is going to pick fruit in 100 degree heat. it's amazing, these jobs have been done by americans for centuries, then all of the sudden we can't find people to do them? that's an excuse. I have worked in FAR worse conditions and have the battle scars to prove it. let me give you an example. when I did some site development work in the construction field, they hired a lot of illegals. a skilled employee, let's say, a heavy equipment operator would make like $20 per hour, be them legal or illegal. that's the same amount. here is how the illegal makes more money. the legal pays taxes on that money and sees probably $15/hr of that money after taxes. why would employers pay them the same? well, it costs much more to have a legal citizen on the payroll with benefits then it does to pay someone $20 cash under the table. this is NOT uncommon.

In California the agriculture industry desperately need field workers to harvest the crops. What typical American is going to work out in 100 degree weather picking fruit/vegetables?

We must have a flow of immigrants but also a way to control the number of workers from Mexico.

There is a difference between SF and LA - the LAPD are not the only law enforcement agency in L.A. The LAPD are a sanctuary department but the LASD is not, and the LASD operates the jails. They cooperate with ICE.

Perhaps the talk should not be of sanctuary cities but sanctuary law enforcement agencies?

Perhaps the federal government should enforce federal crimes and the local police should enforce local laws. That approach has worked pretty well for about the last 200 years.

It seems having local law enforcement enforce immigration laws is working out just fine.
