That's how many are already here. All of them need amnesty. What I was talking about was opening our borders in order to let more in. We need them here to fill jobs that Americans are too lazy and too incapable of doing. When an undocumented immigrant is accused of a crime they should be given the benefit of the doubt and released. You cannot trust the racist American law enforcement. They fake charges against undocumented immigrants to suit their racist agenda. Federal law as it pertains to deporting undocumented immigrants should be ignored by the states. What we need is more immigrants, not less.

Immigrants tend to be more honest, harder working, and more law abiding than their American counterparts. San Francisco should continue to shield immigrants who are picked up by local law enforcement. If handed over to immigration authorities, these immigrants will be treated poorly, charged for crimes they didn't commit and deported back to their country. And that is the problem. We don't need them deported we need them right here in America.
"Values" You mean like all of their out-of-wedlock births, and gang problems. Not to mention that they are filling up our jails.

We need a moritorium on immigration right now. Abolishing the quotas in 1965 was probably the worst thing that was ever done in terms of immigration in this country!

Nice job of stereotyping people. Reality is the majority of undocumented immigrants in America are honest, law abiding people.

We need to provide incentives to immigrants so they come to the US in larger numbers. In order to restore the US economically we are going to need the labor that only undocumented workers can provide. My suggestion is that we open the the borders to Mexico for one month and let in every Mexican who wants to come into the US. After the month is up we give every undocumented immigrant in the US amnesty and immunity from being prosecuted under US law. You may not agree with this but it is the only way for American to restore itself to its former glory.

Did I mention...

Last I checked the greatest thing about this country was that we stand up for what we believe in, and if we don't think something is right we say so and try to get it changed.

So essentially you are telling people using this right to sit down and shut up so you can feel better as a tourist. Hmm, how about NO.

Maybe if the democratic process and freedom of speech make you uncomfortable you should be the one moving to Dubai where you won't have to deal with people who disagree with the national "consensus".

I'm a business owner and I don't support lowering the pay scale, imagine that? It's not that white people are too lazy. Mexicans lowered the wages for most hourly jobs, and in places like Miami, white collar jobs are now under threat of underqualified people who are satisfied with lower pay. As a result, the median income has lowered significantly below the state average there. The Miami situation is a result of rampant immigration (legal and illegal) and immigration laws with no teeth. If you want San Francisco to be more like Miami, go right ahead, the white middle class will flee San Francisco just like they did Miami 20-30 years ago. You will be left with the remnants of a great former city, burned from the core by an overwhelmingly negative foreign influence, and the city would be a dark, ugly shadow of its former self. You will be left with will be a huge lower class, a small/invisible middle class, and at least some of your old guard upper class of trust fund junkies who will migrate to gated, guarded, and walled communities to escape the violent, third world heathens just as they did in Miami.

They should all be given the benefit of the doubt, eh? Let Mexican criminals here get away with what ever they want in San Fran, and what, prosecute citizens more harshly because they are not... let me guess... 'fat, white and lazy' ?

I always have to dissect your statements because each part is just as ridiculous as the next. What you are reccommending would lead to complete anarchy on the streets of San Francisco.

The United States would disinigrate if your idea ever came to pass! We'd turn into a third world ghetto nation over night.

And if the Mexican government knew that the USA was going to open its borders for a month of unrestricted entry, they will empty Mexican prisons and mental institutions in a hurry. Just like the Muriel boat lift from Cuba! If you think all these migrants are going to stay in California youre dreaming! I am not sure the good folks in Tennessee will welcome these "workers" with open arms. And to the poster who is leary about visiting SF--if you do go, keep a close eye on your wife. Mayor Newsome is horny goat! Just ask his campaign manager!!!!!!

See: Mariel boatlift. 125,000+ of Cuba's poorest, as well as Cuba's prisons and mental wards were drained on Miami.

Can someone round up some figures on how much illegals cost San Francisco every year. I know in the state of California its gotta be in the tens of billions.

There were no quotas on Mexican immigrants before 1965. The reason why there was no illegal immigration crisis is that it was very easy for Mexicans to emigrate LEGALLY before 1965.

If the US went back to its pre-'65 immigration laws, that would not make a difference in the number of Latin American immigrants. OTOH East and South Asian immigration would slow to a near halt as would the immigration of Eastern Europeans and Middle Easterners. San Francisco without the Kennedy-Cellar Act would be radically different.
